i like your build thread so much, seeing it go from the dealer lot to a full on track car over the course of years is so cool.

Thanks! I wonder if anyone else has had a similar journey with this car?

My car, your cars NY twin, went from dealership to track rat. Its funny bc I remember being at the dealership and telling my now wife "It will be great! It will be our fun/vacation car!" Then all of the interior started to go missing.
In that same light, I just ordered a nine lives wing that I will be chassis mounting similar to what you did. So more similarities.

I went with a 69" bc it is the width of the car. I like what you did with the stock trunk hinges and I dont have any reason not to trust that. but I wanted a pylon bolt a little further forward on the mount to aid in strength. So I made my mounts out of steel 2" x 2" x 3/16" angle. Unfortunately that is as far as I have gotten due to the long lead times. I ordered the universal pylons October 23rd and haven't heard anything. No biggie. No events until late March at the earliest anyway.

So if you get rid of the parking brake the wheel bearing needs the spacing of the drum brake backplate to mount the rotor and wheel bearing at the right offset. 3/8 thick 7075 Aluminum 6x6", a 83mm hole saw, a drill press, a grinder and about 4 hours you can make some plates. Not perfect but will work.

What up ML. This is what I was talking about for DIY chassis mount wing supports. This one needs a bit of clean up but it enables me to get a bolt in further forward than the trunk hinge did.
Also. I saw in another thread you are getting rid of ABS? Why? Replacing it with a BMW unit? Also also. Interested to hear how much weight you saved with removing the ebrake.

I'm going to a pedal box with dual master cylinders with a bias knob with no ABS. Its a safety thing and I want total control over the brake system, and not have to worry about the stupid traction computer interfering. I haven't ran the e brake since I was running dual rear calipers with a hand brake, but I got rid of that so I had to make those plates. Probably saves about 10-12 pounds of unspring weight.

It looks great man. I really like what you did with the dash bar. It's super clean. It's all in the details!
