I'm not one to make a judgement.
Well, I may have lied.

Ordered an inline heating oil filter for the house a couple months ago.
The old one was leaking, and there's been one revision of it since the turn of the mid-century. Teflon thread tape is Jetson's space age tech, comparatively. Going to need it soon, so got them swapped out last weekend. Got oil ordered and filled midweek. Ouch. But that wasn't today. News from the "House of next Tuesday".

This the only time you are going to clean your gutters? If no, I go buy the tool. A ladder is a "lifetime" tool for a homeowner. Buy a decent one and you'll never buy one again.

Bought a nice 16’ multiladder from my neighbor. Still sort of broke from the 10k vet bill last month so a used ladder fits me nicely at the moment. My wife needs to paint our eaves too so win win win?

We had quite the rain storm over the weekend. That's usually when I learn the gutters are clogged. Half of my house gutters lead to underground plumbing (no idea where to... we don't have sewers in the country). The downspounts all have a mesh grill to prevent large objects (usually leaves) from getting jammed up, but more often than not, one leaf will clog the vent. I'm hesitant to opt for those gutter shields because the asphalt shingles do leave little stone heaps in the gutters over time.
At this point, I'm inclined to just remove the mesh and let the gutters do their thing. |

I found out because a bit of rain filled my gutters. They’re normally filled with the detritus from my neighbor’s Cypress. Thick compacted scale compost.
