i'm not a believer in such things, A good quality wax applied 2 x a year, clay bar / spray wax / wash at least 1x per week, and the paint will stay fresh imo.

I did go for this yes. Only because I'm parking on the street. I could do as the poster above mentions, but I'd rather have the extra protection just in case.
They wanted 345 bucks for the clear coat protectant and its good for 5 years. After which they will re-apply it for free if you still have the coupon thing that is! Then your good for 5 more years. Ben

OptiCoat is for people who are too lazy (don't have enough time) to wax their car regularly. Great for daily drivers.

Check this out - First Autocross in my FR-S
[ame="http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xRRFd2LIJLE"]http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xRRFd2LIJLE[/ame]
Some of you guys may be interested in this or not. This was my ever Autocross event. I didn't take any video of my morning runs. This is my 6th run of the day. I cannot tell you guys how awesome driving this car was. Way better then any stock FWD car on the market. Thats for sure. The only thing I didn't like was our crappy tires. They were no good in the heat and overtime, I started to notice a lack of grip. I think I'm going to start my own Autocross thread. If you guys want to follow along, your more then welcome too. I think my next event is this coming Saturday. Ben

I've been thinking about getting my car opti-coated also, Ken @ autowerkes charges $275. But I just recently got my car detailed and sealed so not sure if its worth it or not

bneale, I remember hearing that you may get kicked out for excessive tire noise. I assume our tires are decent for noise? I don't want to get new tires yet and I want to attend auto-x to test the limit of the Michelins! What time does Auto-X end? I got work at 4pm in Coquitlam

After my weekend in the heat, I do think that the Primacy tires are crap though. I'm planning on getting some Dunlop Star Specs to replace them ASAP. Autocrossing generally ends at 4pm because they have to close the pad down. But you don't have to stay for the full thing if you need to leave. No big deal if you have work at 4pm. I really suggest you try and come out to the event being held this weekend. The BC Corvette club is having an event this saturday and its open to anyone. This would be a great way to just get used to autocrossing considering its not going to be super competitive. Here's the link to their site. EDIT: I almost forgot. If you don't have a helmet, you will need to get one. Sometimes they have some loaners but I do not recommend relying on this. You won't be able to run without a helmet so I suggest you get one if you're really into autocrossing like me. http://www.bccorvetteclub.ca/index_files/events.htm I'm planning on going again next saturday. I still have not signed up yet but I will be doing so as soon as I'm free from work. Ben
