The true advantage to leasing is the put option on the car. If for some reason, these things depreciate like crazy, and the resale gets slaughtered (more than Scion estimates by their residual), you have the option to walk away, paying only the depreciation that was expected at sales time. But nothing's free, and you pay for that option too (in the lease rate or possibly understated residual). For the record, I'm buying. I don't really have a financial buy vs. lease argument though. I want to modify this car and track it, which I don't think will be very lease friendly.

Honestly I don't want to make any financial decisions until I know exactly how much the two cars will cost. Think that's the best decision to make honestly.

Buying is the best route imo and I don't care all that much if an STI came out later (well maybe a little). I'd rather make this car my own and plan keeping it for as long as it still runs.

-GAP is for if you write off the car. Not helpful on trade. -If the dealer is offering you a crappy deal (and they will, that's how they eat), be prepared to sell your car privately, and then negotiate a purchase of a new car. You'll get a better price on your car, but more importantly, you'll be in a MUCH better negotiating position. -You probably should have leased. If you're going to trade up every two years, it's easier. -Proofread your posts. I know this is 90% english, but that last 10% is killing me.

I'm planning on leasing this car. Rather have a smaller monthly payment on a vehicle I'd be getting rid of in the next two/three years. ("whisper whisper" for the special edition model)
