Not Hating....When I test drove the BRZ, It was dull and boring compared to my other car but knew it would make a great Daily Driver to play around with.

miata, lotus elise, frs are sports cars but not performance cars the civic si has character to it but wont ever have soul like the frs does your gs is luxury "performance" ISF, m5, amg are performance luxury cars sorry had to chime in you are looking for a car with performance and highway speed, not a sports car. the frs is about smiles per miles and getting the back end out every once in a while... there are a lot of people on this forum that came from m5's, Porsche 911's, ect because of the way the car makes them feel. until the twins there wasn't another car out there like it. I had a discussion with my friend and he will never understand why people come from those types of cars to the FRS/BRZ, thats why he drives a new camaro. He did get a taste though, i took him drifting. he said he would never have the confidence to drive his car like that and i told him " its not me but the car itself inspires me and gives me the confidence to drift, i was a lot less comfortable in my friends 240z and s2000 doing the same thing" smiles per miles... smiles per miles...

I agree, the 86 is fun but I would never buy it as my only car.
I have a lot of cars and bikes all good but in different ways. BMW GS fyi - this is not me or my bike

If you equate acceleration and torque to fun then fr-s isn't the car for you. You should get a genesis or GTI. When I went to test drive the BRZ the salesman suggested we take it through some twisty back roads behind the dealership. I was sold as soon as I exited the first U-turn on full throttle. big grin on my face that I couldn't wipe off.
That intake resonator is very annoying. You can plug it to stop your mom from complaining. |

Your GS has your spoiled with torque...go drive something that handles like crap and is slow and then drive the 86. Cant go in all spoiled and expect to love it. I agree it could use more power...but does NEED it.

This car doesn't have much longitudinal acceleration. You should try to generate more lateral acceleration before getting on the throttle to make full use of the tires' grip. Then you will really feel pushed into the corner of your seats not the back of them

I like the car overall. i need to drive the car a few times before im comfortable with taking turns at higher speeds(what this car is ment for). I dont wanna wrap myself around the pole on a test drive lol
My mom tagged along to help me buy the car, if i get it she would probably never drive or even ride in it. (Her choice) |

Let's look at the actual numbers though. Per Motortrend The GS 350 F-Sport has:
Quote:
I just don't see a huge discrepancy in terms of power and performance. The Lexus may feel faster, but it really is not. With a tune and a new exhaust and better tires, I am not convinced the Lexus would be superior at all in terms of acceleration. The bottomline is the Lexus is a big heavy car with high HP and torque. The FR-S is pretty much the polar opposite. It is a light smaller car with a low center of gravity that is made to be driven. It it quick, but not fast. OP, if you prefer HP/TQ then look to the Mustang and Genesis Coupe. Either of them will be give you that torque and horsepower you seem to crave and will easily leave your Lexus behind in a stop light race or on the track. Especially a Mustang GT which can be had for under $30K. I have owned these cars, and there is no way I would trade my BRZ in for either (I got rid of a Gencoupe last week for my BRZ). The BRZ is a drivers car. It was designed from the ground up to be a drivers car. The Lexus was designed to be a performance sedan that has a hint of sportiness. You are really comparing apples to oranges here and the price difference is massive. Now put your Lexus up against a Cayman S and get back to me |
