Thumbs up Red Silicone w/ Noise Gen + Stage 2 SS Filter Installed

Looks great! Installed in minutes. Can really feel a faster throttle response and a little more grunt up top! Next up OEM Audio + or Exhaust.. tough decisions...

Hello all, this is actually my first post on the forum!

So I purchased and installed the Zeta Silicone intake pipe on my FRS yesterday. Upon start it had idle issues (would dip real low to 400 rpm and almost kill) so I disconnected the neg. battery terminal, waited 10 min, and the idle issue was fixed after. I went for a drive, everything seemed great (noticed a subtle increase in sound and throttle response, definite nice plus), HOWEVER whenever I stopped and idled it sounded like the engine was kind of missing. It didn't sound as smooth as before and the engine was mildly shaking.

Has anyone else experienced this / found a solution? I REALLY would like to keep this intake tube but i'm going to have to return/sell it if I can't fix this

The tube could not cause this issue. Sounds like you have an air leak, have you made sure all clamps are tight?

As of right now my stock tube is back on and it runs fine again- I'm going to try to put the zeta tube back on soon and see how it goes. But yea I made sure all the clamps were tight when I put it on. Since it is tuned by default for the stock airflow, even if you reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery after the tube installation, would it be possible that ecu hasn't adapted accordingly?

By upgrading our silicone intake pipe, it shouldn't cause any idle or rough issue. Like @Kodename47 said, make sure all connection are pushed all the way it, and tighten all clamps down.

We've been selling these to many FR-S/BRZ user without issue. Please let us know again, so we can follow up with you, thank you.

@FOO-GT86 which pipe did you buy? The symptoms you describe is due to unmetered air, ie air that hasn't gone past the MAF. If you have a direct replacement pipe you'll need to check the resonator, noise pipe, crankcase breather, throttle body and airbox connections.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I got the FR-S Red Silicone Intake Pipe With Noise Generator Openings (SKU: SI-0912-R5). It is the same setup shown in posts #75 & #71 except with my 2013 FRS (not BRZ), I just swapped the stock pipe for the Zeta one. Besides disconnecting the battery to reset the ECU, is there anything else I need to do? I apologies in advance if this may seem like noob question, my knowledge working with anything besides cosmetic body work is very limited.

I may take a before and after video Saturday of the engine to show what i'm talking about.

Thanks.

Does this come with a plug for the firewall if I get the intake pipe without the noise generator?

Srry for the late post- But I reinstalled the Zeta pipe this weekend and success! I must of had an air leak somewhere the first time like Kodename47 previously mentioned. Just to make sure, I visited a friend of mine with a FRS and compared side by side, and the shaking I described was similar.

Thanks everyone for the replies, i'll prob post a pick soon.

Just a personal recommendation to anyone interested, the Zeta Silicone tube with a drop-in filter (in my case I already had the trd highflow filter) and TRD exhaust sound VERY good together.
