Im not quite sure I understand the purpose of an "intake resonance pipe".
You guys are saying its a physical pipe, attached to but not open to the airbox/intake at one and and open to the cabin at the other? And the purpose of this pipe is to increase noise levels in the cabin?
Not sure about you guys, but to me that sounds bloody ridiculous, and Im not even sure I believe such a device exists.
What manufacturer actively tries to increase cabin noise by adding otherwise useless weight? Last time I checked manufacturers installed sound baffle to prevent engine noise from comming into the cabin.
Just sayin.

LFA does it, I think a bunch of other sports cars do too. Personally, I think it's stupid. You can just make the exhaust louder by making it simpler and cheaper and lighter instead of adding some stupid tube.

Actually they do exist and have for quite some time haha, notable cars include the first gen BMW Z4 and now the Mustangs though I'm sure plenty of other cars make use of it. The purpose of the pipe (which really weighs MAYBE 1lbs) allows the manufacturer to TUNE the intake sound for the driver without increasing NVH levels. It's actually a GREAT compromise to hear a bit more induction noise without hearing everything else going on ahead of the firewall. This will also force aftermarket companies to actually do some R&D and make sure their intake systems PERFORM better rather than just being filter-on-a-tube noisemakers.

A lot of you guys sound like you think it directs EXHAUST noise into the cabin?

That's not what it does at all, by the looks of it... it's attached to the air intake for the engine, that pipe goes to a box which allows no airflow, but does allow the transfer of sound waves (vibrations) - this is the large cylinder you see beside the left bank of the intake manifold.

From this cylinder, it looks like there is a pipe that I assume attaches to somewhere on the firewall. This would be used to transfer the vibrations from the cylinder into the cabin, to increase INTAKE noise (like changing to an aftermarket pod filter), NOT to increase EXAHUST noise.

As for removing it... I think I will, when I install a straight intake pipe with a custom cold airbox, that should give a bit more sound, flashen up the engine bay a bit, along with changing the torque curve a little (hopefully an increase?) because of the unobstructed flow for the air.

Most of the time it's to help keep the car quieter, less engine noise within the cabin.
That's all it does, I deleted mine when I had a Civic to reduce some weight.
