Wouldn't the injen be considered a cold air intake? Since its got a block off barrier

No, the Perrin is a cold air intake. The Injen is a Short ram, because the pipe is short hence the filter is located inside the engine bay.

But the intake to me looks super close to being a cai. I never said anything about the Perrin intake either |

Well think of it this way. CAI = Cold Air Intake. The Injen sucks in hot air, so even if it looks like a CAI, it doesn't function as one.

I would rather draw cold air from the factory snorkel than have to remove my whole bumper just to get to my air filter. Both draw cold air from outside the engine bay, you're just changing the location of the filter. Going off data from my Torque app, using just the stock intake and K&N drop in, my intake temps often match the ambient temperature, as long as I'm moving. Temps only start jumping when I'm in stop and go traffic.

I guess my bigger point was you don't need a bumper-removing CAI to get cold air from outside the engine bay. Granted if I had a spare 300$ to spend, I'd happily get one, but the stock snorkel does a pretty good job pulling in cold air, especially with a less restrictive filter.

I think both. We've already seen a couple of 3rd party dynos of the Takeda showing a 5whp gain without a tune.

Hey guys, new here and my first post. I was interested to see if anybody is running the Perrin inlet tube with a K&N drop in filter. I like this setup because it retains the stock air box, keeps the MAF in the stock location, eliminates the sound tube, provides better flow from the drop in filter and redesigned inlet tube, and looks pretty stock if you opt for the black tube. I've ordered the parts and will be installing them as soon as they come in and will chime in on response, sound and what not post install.
