In due time there should hopefully be a diffuser available with a real mounting solution to cover up the muffler area and clean up the air under there at speed. I plan on getting one. |

![]() Is not functional at all and is purely cosmetic. To get real measurable downforce you need a full diffuser that goes back almost to the differential and creates a low pressure area under the car at high speeds. It should cover up nearly everything underneath in that area to maximize the effect, and flush the air out upwards off the back of the car, like this: ![]() ![]() The factory suitcase muffler was actually designed to have this effect at speed, but not nearly as significant as a full diffuser.

Finally got the @Touge Factory brake cooling kit installed today!
With my car back on the lift I got busy taking the under panels off, installing the shims for the washer fluid tank, and test fitted the ducts that TF sent me for correct BRZ bumper fitment. They mocked up correctly so I proceeded to install the kit by first removing the calipers, rotors, and hubs to fit the backing plates. Then I trimmed the splash guards by the control arms to allow the hoses room to run and routed the hoses. Much easier said than done. High torque values called for an impact wrench on the caliper and hub bolts. Tight spaces between the radiator and the frame barely allow the hose to slip through; my hands got pretty beat up during this part. Drivers side hose routing ![]() Passenger's side ![]() Removed the dust sheilds behind the rotors/hub to make room for the backing plates. Installing the backing plates was tricky, the included instructions were helpful here since you have to finagle the hub back on while having the wheel speed sensor partially fitted but also being pushed in by the air guides; hard to explain without actually being there doing it. I got everything fitted correctly Tightened the hub bolts back down after putting red Loctite on them and then connected the hoses to the backing plates; making sure there's enough slack at the control arm to allow movement to full opposite lock steering angles. ![]() ![]() Passengers side ![]() Drivers side ![]() After that I got to zip tying everything down. Drilled two holes in the splash guard on each side forward of the hole I trimmed out to allow the hoses to route to the control arm. Zip tied the hoses snug against the splash guard to keep them clear of the lower radiator hose on the drivers side and the header/secondary O2 sensor on the passengers side. The hoses are high temp rated anyways but they are secure with at least 2 inches of clearance this way. Finishing up the install I zip tied the ducts flush with the bumper and then before reinstalling the under panels I tested everything at full opposite lock steering angles to ensure there was enough slack everywhere. Reinstalled rotors, calipers, under panels, skid plate and wheels. The test drive home was successful, no noticeable increase in NVH, checked the hoses at the duct and at the backing plate and they are still snug after 80-90 mph cruising. Not very noticeable unless there's a flash going off! Even when they are lit up they look kinda cool IMO! ![]() Looking forward to testing the kit at Atlanta Motorsports Park this weekend! Should have much more confidence in the brakes with the PMU HC+800 pads and actively cooled front rotors!

looks great man, hope you have nice weather this weekend.... we had rain the whole day this past friday at AMP.... i got to know the track but was not able to push the car at all... the AD08's did very well in the rain though.
I'd love to get you the right seat at an event this season and get a ride along in yours... it would be great to get some coaching from someone who knows the platform.

I'm track testing and reviewing the kit for TF as an early adopter so I got a slick deal from them which I can't give details about.
The complete kit retails for $400 which is a fair price considering the hand made and welded backing plates, the high temp silicone hose, washer tank shims, hand made ducts, hose clamps, zipties, Loctite, and most important detailed step by step instructions. I've thought about getting plugs for the front of the ducts but after installing the kit and understanding how the hoses are routed I don't have much concern about rain water. I'll definitely keep an eye on everything next time I drive in heavy rain. |

![]() ![]() I have yet to go to the track or autox so far this year without getting rained on. It doesn't help that AMP's paddock has absolutely zero cover to speak of other than a the little spectator stand and the trailer. All the garages are privately owned by the membership elite Quote:
