It's a bypass valve that you vent to the atmosphere with a breather filter.

A BOV is made to sound louder and more pronounced with no option of rerouting the air back into the intake stream.

You are correct. It is a bypass valve.

So, if you read @2forme's correct explanation, you have a BPV with a breather filter.

Surprised how tame it is given he doesn't have a resonator or a secondary cat. I have the same system, but with a secondary cat, and it gets pretty damned vocal when I lay into the gas. Could just be the recording audio quality too I guess.

It will get pretty loud with a header, although Gem said he had a local shop put the vibrant resonator into his exhaust with great success "it sounds perfect".

What are you guys talking about? A blow off valve vents to atmosphere and a bypass valve redirects air to the intake. That's it.

Yes, we know that. The thing is that the Vortech kit uses what is designed as a BPV to vent to atmosphere and that's the confusion. That's why I said, its a BPV being used as a BOV. At the end of the day it doesn't matter. We are just bored.
