premium gas is not more efficient or more safe. If the engine is designed and tuned to run safely on regular unleaded then there is no reason not to do so unless you're absolutely desperate for that 10 extra hp. It's all conjecture anyway. Nobody knows yet what the recommendation is going ot be in the owner's manual.

hmm it sounds a lot like the j30 in my accord when its in vtec. Not the most popular honda engine for performance, but it sure sounds good when i push her

On engines with throttle plates (aka not BMW, not VQ37VHR powered, not xZR-FAE cars, not Fiat), if the engine is designed to run premium, you better run premium if you ever want to get past half throttle. On a variable intake duration output controlled engine, you're limited to maybe 80% max torque. Once the engine detects detonation it retards timing, and then your efficiency goes to shit. Accidentally jab the throttle too hard with your foot, problems will happen. I think not risking it is a better idea.

and this engine is designed for premium anyway, it's in the staff manual.
