I'll say it again. My friend checked the part number and it's not in the system yet. I hope $26,000 is a typing error or just an early April fools joke.
I'm just waiting for someone to say Pre-April fools.

And the minimum is 2! so for $52,000 it should come with two other FR-S's to pull your FR-S on a chariot of fire through the heavens.

I mentioned this in the other thread, but just to clarify things, this is not intended for consumers to buy. It is for racing teams only. Here is a Ford Mustang Boss 302 for $132,000 for Grand Am racing. There is also one on the site for the Pirelli Series, but it doesn't have a price. Scion Racing doesn't sell bodies in white like this, but they are offering the supercharger to teams that want to run an FR-S in the series per the rules. If you want to race a Mustang in this series, you can buy this one from Ford for $130,000. If you want to race a Scion, you can buy one and strip it and put in the supercharger for $26,000 (among lots of other expenses that will probably end up making it cost more to run than the Ford, as evidenced by the fact that there are 7 Mustangs in the series and 1 Scion). Racing isn't cheap, hate to break it to you. According to the logic in this thread, Ford sells these for this much because they are trying to get people not to buy it
![]() http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...KeyField=13517 The good news is that car companies have these racing development arms for a reason. They are almost certainly looking to develop this into a production ready package at some point, where the real money is. Unless they start winning a lot of races and the FR-S becomes the hot car to run (unlikely in an American series with Americans making the rules), I doubt they'll make any money selling the competition kit. Assuming this is real, it appears they deliberately "priced it out of the market" but had to make it available to the market to meet the rules of the race series they are running in which requires it be a factory option available to public. It is, and it is, so they've met that requirement.
I'm pretty sure they're not selling it to the race teams for 26k/per.

I don't think the ST teams in the Conti series have "millions of dollars to blow".

How about we just chalk it up as too bad no one is getting one. The output for the cars in the GTS class typically make around 290-330hp. Given the light weight relative to the Cayman, TSX, Optima, etc. I think it will be at the lower end. I'll be in St. Pete on Saturday routing it on. You can usually get very close to the cars in paddock, so I'm hoping to get some pics and ask about the set up.

Being intimately familiar with race teams, money is a precious resource and MOST race teams are financed by the rich guy driving the car and the company he/she owns, or by the rich guy that owns the team. However big pools of sponsorship money, especially in motorsports is hard to come by and not readily wasted. This is especially true on small potatoes series like Pirelli and Continental Challenge (Compared to NASCAR/INDY/F1). Just look at how they approach the task of finding a driver. In smaller series the majority of the drivers in those cars are paying many thousands of dollars just for the honor of driving those cars, that's partly how the teams fund things... charge the drivers to drive the cars or hire drivers that show up with their own sponsors and $$. I know this because I race with locally with some of the drivers in those series. There's usually only a small handful of teams (that usually run up front, or are "works" teams) and they actually have the coin to hire professional drivers but 85% of the rest of the grid... nope. In fact "big sponsor dollars" is even fleeting in F1. McLaren is losing Vodafone! Why do you think Pastor Maldanado, Bruno Senna, Vitaly Petrov and Sergio Perez have/had seats in F1 cars? Because they had "enough" talent but they also showed up with 10-50 million dollars of their own money or their sponsors. Money talks, talent walks has been the name of the game for some time now.
