GoPro Black Edition Reviews?

Thinking of getting one but from the reviews on amazon im not sure. I've read a few issues of lock ups and other issues that have not been fixed with firmware.

Debating if I should just get a gopro 2 used with a bunch of accessories.

Anyone have any problems?

Didnt see anything posted but the search function on tapatalk sucks.

I had all of them. The newest 3 Black is the best. Hero 3 works much better in dark lighting, built in wifi, and 60fps in 1080. I use my mostly in a FPV quadcopter.

Got one last night. So far so good. Image quality is great. Wifi preview and being able to set all the setting via WiFi are amazing.

So I have used the GoPro now for a few weeks and there are a few issues with it. Quality is great for video and stills. Low light is good as well. Am going to try the spot metering next time to see if it helps with a few shots that had bright backgrounds.

I have had the device freeze on me about 5 times since using it. Its kind of annoying. It freezes to the point where you actually have to remove the battery which is a pain as its usually in the case. The battery life absolutely sucks. Yes I updated the firmware the second I took it out of the packaging. It has not died yet on me yet but I have had to think about it and shut the camera off. I changed the setting to auto shut off after 60 seconds to help with that.

I would recommend to others to save their money and pick up a few used gopro 2 for the same price. They are pretty cheap on the market and really don't have the same issues as the 3 has with most of the features.

Hope this helps someone make a decision.

IMO, don't buy a Hero 2 unless you're considering a Hero 3 Silver or White. The 3 black has a lot of features that the 2 doesn't have, and are well worth it.

The 2 only has 1080p @ 30fps and 720p @ 60fps, the 3 black has 1080p @ 60fps and 720p @ 120fps which makes a big difference for slow motion footage. It can also shoot in 2.7k and 4k modes as well. Low light situations are MUCH better with the 3 black, and the audio sounds better too, even in the sealed case. The built in wifi and included remote make it an even better value, the wifi backpack/remote combo for the 2 is about $120 alone. The lens on the 3 case is much better as well, especially under water.

I've only had mine freeze up on me once, and it was before upgrading the firmware.

I use mine skiing, attached to an RC quadcopter for aerial footage, attached to an RC car for onboard footage on a track, attached to a real car for driving footage.

For what it's worth, I had a Hero 2 before the 3 and was happy with it. I "upgraded" because I scratched the lens by dropping it on concrete taking it off the quadcopter (using it "naked", no protective case).

Good points. The differences on the black may be worth it to some people. I myself am interested in the 240 frames in wvga.
