So does this mean I should run 91 until I get a cable?

I would run at least 91.

Weird though, in the Maps DB, there is no such thing as a 91 map. They are 87, 89 and 92.

@ML - I wonder why Unichip marked yours as 91 Octane when you guys run 93 in NC.

I'm guessing Jack put the 92 Oct map with Timing Out, since I think that's the equivalent to 91 Octane.

I don't think he fills the orders personally though. It is a medium sized company it seems.

Map questions

Sorry for the confusion... I'll look into why that label was printed "91."

Because of the differences in regional and seasonal fuel blends, we program things with a 92 octane "middle of the road" premium map in switch position 1. That map would work well with most 91-93 octane blends.

Unless otherwise requested, everything is shipped 87 Fuel Standard/Timing Standard in switch position 0 and 92 Fuel Standard/Timing Standard in switch position 1.

If anybody has any questions about that, please shoot me a pm and I'll be happy to clear things up.

Cheers

A little update for the Cali guys, I've been running the 89 oct stock map with Timing In after hearing @ML and @blkwrxwag experiencing better performance with the lower octane map, and to my surprise my car has been running smoother with the 89 oct map. Throttle response feels noticably quicker in the low rpm range. Gears 1 - 3 seem more torquey. However, everything above 3500 rpm feels the same as the 92 oct stock map. So this 89 oct map feels really good for normal daily driving. And this is all with Chevron 91 gas as it is what I normally fill my tank with. But two days ago, I filled my gas with Shell vpower 91 just to see if theres any difference, and with it my car seem to feel more...inert. I mean it's not boggy, but it's not as responsive as with chevron. And to my surprise, I haven't heard any HPFP chirping with Shell as I normally would hear.

If you have the flux2, it shows you exactly what is installed. I have been working with a local tuner on e85 btw. I'll probably have a rough tune I can send to jack hopefully by the end of the month

Also car is back to stock as of right now. I had to take it off to have some warranty work done (was scheduled since last year, was just waiting on parts). I didn't want them to say they wont do the work because of the system.

It did take me about 25 minutes to get it out (pretty sure next time I install/remove it, it'll only take about 10-15 minutes max). I had an issue with plug 3 (I have huge hands haha) but I figured out a way to get around it. If you take two flathead screwdrivers and use one to push in the clip and the other to nudge the plug off, you could probably finish the install and removal in about 10 minutes.

>>If you have the flux2, it shows you exactly what is installed<<

That's not true.

The Flux2 has a programable LCD display. It by no means correlates what the display says to the tune installed.

This weekend we installed a UniChip system w/Flux2 on my buddies black BRZ. We loaded the tunes and modified the LCD display to match. Both manual operations.

Questions for Jack or anyone who has just the Unichip system (no Flux 2). The two settings are + and - and the switch is O and -. Which setting is high octane and low and how do the positions on the switch correlate with the settings? Thanks!

Position 0 on the switch (0 depressed), is the low octane map. Position 1 on the switch is the high octane.

That's correct that you do have to manually rename the map, but if you take the time to do so, it will show you which is installed.

Also, Jack does program the names of each tune in when he delivers it to you, so you can cycle through each one and know which one you are using.
