My configuration is only the Apexi drop-in filter and noise generator delete (stock inlet hose, but will be upgrading to Perrin inlet hose). Right now, I'm running the 92 Oct Stock Map with Fuel Standard and Timing Out, and I'm using Chevron 91 gas. It seems to pull harder on the low end, and once it hits ~3300rpm it feels like stock but with less torque dip in the 3500 - 4500 range. Quote:
I don't know if I should create a new thread to collect map feedback/reviews from all SoCal Unichip users, or just add it here. |

For the price I paid for this unit, it's not bad at all. The car is responding pretty much as I expected for a stock tune. Comparing this to the Cobb Access Port I had for my WRX that cost double of the Unichip, this is a great product.
I can't say too much since I've only run it for a week. But I'm sure this unichip will do great wonders, especially if you run it with CAI and headerback exhaust. I'm looking forward to see if there'll be other tuners that can make maps for the Unichip. These downloadable maps are really good, but I think they're still "conservative" (just as any off-the-self maps are). |

Yeah use the USB and remapping software, it's super easy. I didn't even bother to test what was loaded on my unichip when it arrived. I reflashed it before installing it so I knew for sure which maps were loaded on there.

I've only had my unichip installed for 2 days, but so far I love it. Running the 92 octane standard map for perrin CAI on the main map and standard fuel, timing + on the other map. Feels a good bit more peppy!

Im so excited!! Gah but it looks like mine wont be here till Monday or Tuesday... plus I have to drive to the border to pick it up. damn customs. Any Canuks on here have UniCHip and use Petro 94? Im guessing that stuff will accept the most aggressive Fuel-out and timing-in maps?

ATTN GRAPH WHORES:
here is a section of graph from troque today. This is from the "1" map. You can see where I push the clutch in and the RPMs drop to about .5 (x1000) and then it catches it self to keep from stalling, then the idle is rough untill I take off. I should have my cable thursday so I can see what exactly is going on. I guess I should have a similar post to show what map 0 does, other wise this is pretty pointless. Also for the record I'm pretty happy with my chip so far, and I can't blame any problems I have on Unichip until I try some other maps, and also rule out the intake, and the intake install. ALSO! Unichip's customer service has been one of the best experiences I have had with a company that I can remember.

Thats the thing, I don't know as I don't have a cable yet. I asked them to put the Injen intake only tune on so thats what I assume is on map 1.

The bottom of your unichip should have a sticker that says what map is loaded in 0 and 1. Otherwise, there's no other way of knowing. The software does not show what is currently installed in the unichip (which I think should be a feature in the software).

yeah that would be handy. I didn't know about the bottom sticker, makes me wish I hadn't zip tied mine down. I posted the graph for more or less just because btw.

Anyway, I just reloaded both from the DB myself and I'll just track what works best. Agreed, it would be a nice feature if the software showed you what maps are currently loaded in each position. My new maps seem to work well, but we are having torrential rain and hail today which does not make for good testing weather on old RS3s! |
