Because I don't want to rip the factory seats out of my daily driver. Side impact airbag faults and such. I sat in another one and figured out it wasn't the seats so much as how narrow the cockpit was. I just couldn't get comfortable. I'm 6ft, 285, and wear a 50R suit. I put in an order on a 2014 Mustang GT w/ Track Package and Recaros two weeks ago.

Makes sense. I just looked up the interior dimensions for comparison and, though on paper the Mustang is only slightly bigger (0.75 - 1.50 inches) in each measure, I know that it also depends on layout and cabin feel.

In recent years the Mustang has really come together. I hope you'll post about it when you take delivery. You could do a comparison of your own. I bet I'm not the only one who would enjoy reading it. :happy0180:

Cool! I always loved that yellow one from the mid-90's. Here is a photo of the team who made it:

If GM had made the windows on the Camaro just an inch taller, I'd have ordered a 2013 RS/SS instead. Alas.

On paper, yes. I still don't know how they do advertised headroom measurements, but I like to sit very vertical, and in many cars, my hair will rub the headliner, which is obnoxious on long drives. Either the Mustang Recaros adjust lower to the floor or the whole car is built taller. I'm assuming the latter. Also, the parking brake handle in the FR-S was EXACTLY where my right knee was trying to go and the door felt like it was right on my left shoulder.

I like taking long drives. Ergonomics are very important to me. The only thing that is even a bit of a compromise on the Mustang are the Recaro bottoms are tight on my thighs and the SW doesn't telescope, but it's almost where I want it as is.

If the car was an inch or so wider, I'd have just bought a BRZ Limited. Now I'm playing the waiting game. Order went in 2/16, still waiting for a VIN. Once I get the VIN I should be able to get a projected build date.

This is what I've been going through. Keeping an eye on new cars I could afford over the last couple years.

Just ...

Nothing.

That appealed to me. Had an Alfa GTV and a Honda Civic S long ago. Now the current hooptie was wearing out and I needed to get serious.
Started looking at more upscale used models and was amazed at how little some <5 year old SLKs were going for. Hmm.
But then looked into common repair part prices.
So probably a Mini, 500 or a scooby of some sort. The Mini and 500 have had some pretty dire breakdown and bits falling off stories though.

Up here in pnw land we have ferries to get across the water.
There are different price schedules for vehicle length and tiny cars qualify for $3 less if under 168 inches.
Thought I'd be stuck with a Mini if I wanted to get that price break.
Then I happened across the spec sheet on the FR-S last Friday evening. 166.7 - WOW! On that all over.
Hadn't really been looking too closely at these up to that point.
Did some furious net diving that night looking up all the details and checking recalls and common problems. Didn't look bad at all.

A local dealer had 1 MT in stock in the color I wanted. Brought it home the next day.

The only thing I've found to be a bit disappointing is the rear visibility. If the Hachi was really a hatchback that would have been my dream car.
I'll keep an eye out for new variants on this chassis. Maybe a trade in if so.

I owned a 2006 WRX. They overlapped for about a week and the WRX felt like a huge, clunky, sloppy, beast in comparison. I do miss the turbo but overall no regrets.
