I just want the whole thing mostly red but I'm not too particular about the tail light pretty sure there an abundance of aftermarket will exist.

Did Subaru said so?

Press Release:
The Boxer engine has inherent qualities of light weight, compactness, low center of gravity, and high rigidity – all pointing toward its great potential as a sports car engine. Taking full advantage of these features, a 2.0-liter horizontally-opposed four-cylinder direct fuel-injection gasoline engine has been developed exclusively for BRZ.

I wouldn't be surprised if it has more power, but I keep seeing PIT post all this "insider information" but multiple people has asked for sources multiple times and he never replies.. makes me think the insider source is the voice inside his head.

Are people still missing the point, these cars are made for full handling and fun. Therefore the 200hp and low weight is,adequate. I don't understand all these I want more HP out of the factory. Give the aftermarket a chance to develop, I honestly think its blasphemous we should be happy were getting these Rwd coupe at all.

Not sure if that was to me or not, but I think 200HP is just fine for the record.

In fact, I don't even want a turbo. I like NA power and predictable and linear power delivery. If the STI version is a turbo, I'll just buy the STI parts I want for my regular 'slow' BRZ/FR-S.

All I know is, interviews with Subaru show that they have no plan for boosted version. However, I think they still can pump power up from the Engine. It doesn't make sense to sell a make over BRZ with STI moniker.
Edit: I didn't know Subaru really mentioned about STI version. Maybe I missed something.

Well the STI version is a concept. Long ago interviews from Toyota said something to the effect that "This platform has to have a long life because of the development cost and time spent on the project. Because of that, specialty versions are not out of the question after a few years."

That's not an exact quote but paraphrased from memory. That's a fairly common practice though on an expensive new platform though that (currently at least) is not destined to be used in other vehicles.

So an STI version hasn't been publically announced as a real car that will be for sale, but logically a faster/higher performance version (I'd hope for Hondas Type-R treatment, less weight, stiffer body, a slight bump in power, different suspension parts, etc over a 300hp turbo car though) would be a likely "specialty" type model of the car.

The base BRZ and FR-S I see as being identical engine wise, but that's solely based on repeated statements that only the bumpers, badges and interior bits would differ between the two cars.

I would expect the STI version to be out in 2013 about a year or year and a half after the base BRZ hits the lots.

From what I observed from the released photos of the BRZ, the wheel well seem to be maxed out by the wheel with the installed suspension. To put in 18x8 probably at max, there needs to be some negative camber and raised height adjustments on the rear.

18x8.5 or even 18x9 are out the questions I would assume.

All input are welcome, please. For a RWD car, not having beefy rear tires just doesn't hold up to what the standards of RWD sport cars are about.

The largest tire you can put in the arch is not necessarily the best. At some point you aren't gaining any traction and you're just adding rotational mass. The point at which this happens will require some testing but i will make a presumtion based on weight and power:

Unless you have substantially more than the 200hp NA that this car will put
out, then a 225 rear tire is all you want in a production car. Once you gain some power a 245 tire may be desired for racing.

It would be dumb to use the platform exclusively for only 2 cars. I think an interview with either Toyota or Subaru said, platform was made with convertible in mind. I suspect that the plateform will be used for convertible version and small Lexus coupe and convertible( IS Coupe and C? and probably other cars too).

You're right, STI is not announced, but it's probably in work. Since TRD version in Japan leaked on the web, I don't see why Subaru don't go to STI route. I still don't know how they put turbo without messing up with the weight distribution. They can do it, but how much does it cost to do so? We don't know.

Edit: Now we see STI concept, I think we will see the production STI soon.
