I am still a little surprised at the pricing but I guess the point was to compete directly with Ecutek. The cost for the personal edition plus the cable is about $650 with the ability to edit and trade maps, etc.
how does the map trading work, given that the pro edition is supposed to be locked to 1 vin? I'm guessing you can save and email the maps, but your copy of BRZedit can only flash to the 1 registered VIN?

From my understanding after emailing the author a similar question that is correct. The maps are not tied to a VIN/license key like Ecutek maps are, only the flashing procedure is tied to a specific VIN.

It will be interesting to see how things play out with regards to the software and if tuners decide to use it or not. Ecutek has a lot of advanced features such as all of the Racerom stuff, multiple map switching without reflashing, etc. The other issue is tuners aren't going to email maps out like with Ecutek. But from what I understood there is a master/slave mode where someone with the Pro software can remotely tune/flash a car.

So, I have been looking over my stock rom and making changes for the last several hours now. None of this is new to me, just the particulars with this platform. Once thing Interesting that i logged is throttle plate limiting during the "dip" AP is on the floor but throttle angle pulls back a good bit then opens back up as your coming out of the dip and reached full open by about 4500 rpm. VVT maps look like i expected, intake advance in neutered in the middle of the dip.. Lots of torque limits and request tables to adjust.. working on getting rid of the throttle limit at the moment by adjusting the torque limit, request, and calculation tables.

I'll post up more info latter on after i play around some more.

So far Epifan has been quick to take feed back. He already added a requested logging param for me today (Calculated load in Grams / rev) and released a new version.

Right now I am just working on fueling and VVT, with a sprinkle of timing. I played around with DBW enough last night to learn what NOT to do.. the table labeled as the WOT Torque Limit, is actually more of a base value used in the throttle opening calc... if you increase the limit table above the request table you get LESS throttle opening angle.

We should probably start a new thread or threads related to specific tuning topics. I have some tables and logs from last nights trial and error that I will post up latter now that I have this installed on my desktop too.

Maybe it's time for a separate ECU tuning subforum even?
