I actually wasn't directing that comment at you or anyone in particular, but since you brought it up...

Not pushing it hard at all is essentially equivalent to "babying"...

That aside, all this speculation, maybe he's never driven the road before? Granted there were a few moments in the video where its quite obvious he was taking it sleazy. But if it was his first trip down the canyon, yeah, I'd take it a bit easy too.
Here you are clearly implying Frank is babying the car (your word) whereas you would not.

Furthermore, you insinuate that Frank should be "scorned" as a poseur for his driving. You do allow that if it's first time on that road, his "babying" is forgivable -- however, it's not, so that uses up the allotted excuse...

I wasn't by any means calling Ronin a 'poser'. He took it to the canyon and had his fun with it. Thats more than most richie rich poser bitches can say about their expensive toys. Thats more than I've seen most of said people do, personally, having lived my HS/early college years around one of the richest areas in the U.S. They're everywhere around here.

@scape, its a matter of opinion, thats all. If i'm going to build a car to perform, I'm going to push it. Otherwise, whats the point of pioneering performance limits on a car? If I wanted to rub it with a terry cloth all day and try to get hoes to sit on my lap, I'd just strut around in factory trim and watch 'em flock. If I'm gonna build a car to perform, then I'm gonna put it on stage and see what it can do.
Here you backpeddle on the poseur insinuation, but imply that Frank isn't man enough to drive his car as it was intended -- ouch.

Funny enough, Frank totally ignored your commentary and instead went 12 rounds with another person and I did not single you out in my last post -- so why are you getting so defensive?

Jordo, are you really this daft?

In no parts of any of my posts did I single out your buddy, Frank, with the exception of the sleazy comment.

Here, let me add something: In general.

I still don't see it. That reply was to Scape, who said he'd baby the car. If anything I'd be calling Scape the poser for babying it. You're taking the post completely out of context.

I honestly can't see how you can interpret that as me striking at Ronin. But whatever, I've already said it twice (3 times?). Nice car, nice vid, nice road. Grats on his modified mag invitation.

My mistake -- you must have been talking about everyone in the world except Frank and been referring to every other built Lotus other than Frank's

Gosh, I must be pretty daft after all. Oh well... no biggy

^^^ Wow -- between the random attacks against people you'll never have to see face to face, backpeddling when challenged, and posting of cat and Jean Luc Picard pics you clearly have mastered the internet.

Awesome

Look, instead of this dragging on into an endless sea of hilarious jpg files, go back, re-read what you wrote, and pretend it was about drifting instead of driving, and about an 80's hatchi instead of a Lotus, and a video of you and your car were the subject of the thread... then tell me again how none of that was directed at the guy sliding around in the hatchi in the vid but just a series of general statements...

Whatever, man...

Actually, I believe he's planning on taking that local guy for a spin in the roninmobile... why base opinions on a video of a drive when you can experience the drive first hand

I read that too about him taking that guy for a spin. Can't say I'd have the balls to ride along... passengers REALLY feel vulnerable! Much better feeling being the driver (whether reality or not).

Agreed... a spirited drive is mainly fun when you're the driver and not the one looking for the "oh shit" handles

i would like to point out to everyone that the section he mapped in google maps is in fact 11.5 miles. unfortunately for his argument, that's not the section in the video. the video starts after the "starting point" on google maps, and ends before the "end point" on google maps.

this is more correct: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...10378&t=h&z=13

^^^ Eh, go for a drive with him. Despite all the bickering, you two would probably get on like a house on fire.

and that's the thing. i'm sure we would get along quite well under different circumstances. after checking around, shuffle steering does hold merit as a driving technique, but it is not the *only* technique out there, and i have never previously been exposed to it as a legitimate driving style. instead of coming on here and calling me names, all he had to do was say "hey, these driving schools teach shuffle steering, it's credible" and we probably would have gotten along fine. oh well.

oh, and i'd rather be driving, ha!

I should prolly put some "oh shit" handles in my car... I forgot I had my door panel off one day when I was driving my brother home. took a corner too hard, knowing there was a lot of pavement on the outside, and his head hit me in the shoulder.

That aside... THIS THREAD is why I love this forum.
Fucking classic, guys. You are all win.

Holy thread revival Batman. I remember viewing this post when it was fresh and watching the video's. I can't recall much from them, except it was a hell of an expensive car, and a nice looking drive.

I have to admit I'm with Oldskool on this one, If I had access to an exotic sports car I'd drive it like a sports car, and not a ***** magnet. Though I must also admit if that car were mine I may have a different opinion to offer. Then again, I drove my Matrix to the ground, and I'll do it again (a little gentler this time).

Now I've only raced a handful of times but I figured out after the first couple run that 3-9 is a very effective hand position for spirited driving. Sawing is something I'd expect myself to do, but I've learned to gauge a corner to the point where I can smoothly run the corner without much adjustment. I'm still mastering heal+toe technique, that is proving to be tricky for me.

Anyways, It looked like a fun run from what I remembered watching, I was thrilled and remember thinking "I want to do that!".

I want to end on a similar note as Lex did. So...

For those who may have trouble reading fine print -- *CAUTION*
