That´s also why you often find big differences between the measurements of a car from 3 different dynos.

Yeah there really isn't too much happening right now. Halloween is right around the corner, and then Thanksgiving...

Until the car is released all topics will venture OT. There's only so much one can discuss about cars that aren't out yet.. heck cars whose details haven't even been annouced yet

So i just noticed the regular Veloster's curb weight is 2584. I have a lot of faith that the FT will come close to that. exterior dimensions are very similar between the two. the veloster has a bunch of standard features like a 7" touchscreen, etc. and it still manages to come in under 2600 lbs. before i was conservative with the curb weight, i expected the FT to be under 2700. but now, we have a direct comparison with the veloster. if the veloster can make it under 2600, i fully expect the FT to be well under 2600 closer to 2500. perhaps the 1150 kg curb weight isnt so far fetched after all...

oh and FWD vs RWD shouldnt really be much of a factor in this case because imo the veloster's hatch, rear glass, and interior features more than make up the extra weight a driveshaft, LSD, etc would add to a RWD car...

@madfast: At least one article I read (maybe in _Car_) said that a Type R, or a Type S, or a lightweight version was already in the cards. So, when Toyota says sub-2600 and C & D says "under 3,000" (or whatever), maybe they are both "right."

One thing about Subaru saying "we did all the work" blah blah blah, is that if the car flops for whatever reason, Toyota can be like "don't look at us, it was all Subaru!"

this very discussion about being off topic is itself off topic...and so is this comment.

Oh, and as for the price/weight, I'll say this...

If he test drove the auto, that is 100lbs on the manual car right there. Add another 50lbs for up-level model wheels/accessories/etc. (Power seats = weight, foglights = weight, more speakers/better stereo = weight, etc.) and thats 150lbs. I've been through all the factory service manuals for Subaru's over the years (yes, ALL of them) and made a list of all the curb weights for all the models and such over the years, its not abnormal to see 100-200lbs differences in models just due to accessories.

I still think as most of the folks here do that the car will weigh in the 2600lbs range. IF there is a de-contented version (which I hope there will be... Type-RA version anyone???) then it could shed more weight with smaller wheels, no stereo (2004 STI did that here in the states), no spare, no rear seats, etc. it will for sure be 2600lbs or less.

As for the price... $28-30k FULLY LOADED I do expect, but hopefully that includes huge brakes, upgraded suspension, NAV, etc. But if the base model for the Scion isn't close to $20k and for the Subaru close to 22-22k, then I will be upset.

This is after all basically a parts-bin sports car, and if they CAN'T offer one for close to $20k and it stays around $25k, I hope in the future they consider an even less powerful non-DI model with even less content... I have zero interest in a fully loaded $30k Sports car.

Wow I like your speech there except for the parts bin part.. Which MAJOR part of this car is from something else? The way I see it alot of parts from this car will go towards others, but this is by no means a parts bin car...
