Sorry for the rant just tired of seeing this car sitting in the shop with problems.
Is the chirp really that irritating to you? Just my opinion but I think you are ranting and going a little over the edge.... It's a first gen car!!! This isn't a Lamborghini or Porsche or anything top notch where everything is perfect.... I don't know why ppl would be willing to take it this far, just my opinion. And secondly, if you are saying you lose half the power, pls meet me now so I can check that out..... Also, why don't you do what everyone else is doing and wait until they find the solution to the problem.... Like is it really that big of a situation?

Or start a case with scion USA and maybe ask for a new frs? If its that big of a deal......

I have already been compensated once and from scion USA I'm tired of it coming back it's just a fuel pump how hard can it possibly be to fix pumps are very simple technology I do hydraulics for a living and I have had my old pump apart and there is really nothing special about it. I was willing to deal with the noise but not the random power loss I have no deep hearted loyalty to Toyota if they can't fix it then they need to pay up.

Really if you make a big enough deal about it you get compensated or half the money you paid back. A check for $13k will make me forget all about that chirp.

I'd forget a lot of things for 13k.

I hear you on that. These cars are already depreciating like crazy from the few I have heard about being traded in and my laughable Car max appraisal of $19k. The money would make all my issues with it go away so I can just enjoy the car and not think that I'm never gonna have a good resale and it has problems.

I may want to talk to your lawyer. Considering I have had more issues than you with the cel issue and transmission replacement issue. Hell just getting my deposit back would make me feel better.

Well one it isn't a Toyota motor nor fuel pump, it will be subby but if you say fuel pumps are easy technology then I would say Toyota would have fixed these issues. I even can say that if this was a full Toyota car there wouldn't be any issues at all. Yes 13k would be a nice check to grab but how much of that 13k would you have to hand over to your lawyer? Also if you don't mind a little noise until they actually do fix it ( I do remember you saying that you were told Toyota was in the making of a new type of fuel pump ) so why keep going to change the fuel pump? I don't know where your coming from with the lose of power cause I don't notice any power lose at all? Maybe it's your head thinking you have lost power? If so please meet me so I can see this so I can understand where your coming from....

And just letting ya know but once you drive off the lot with a new car, you lose 20% of the price of the car... Doing the math that's about 6k and if you subtract 6k from the 25000 that's where you come up with the 19k. So sorry but you haven't lost any $......

$19k for trade in is pretty much par for the course. trade in value is never the same as street value.

I have the new model pump with the stiffer plungers in it so it doesn't turbulent the fuel and cause the chirp (in theory). The power loss happened before and it started stalling at idle like when I would warm it up in the morning I would start it and after a minute or two it would stall out. I think it might be going into limp mode but the CEL only flashes on for a second when it does it then goes right back off. It comes and goes but when it happens it won't get up to 65mph. Could be an ECU issue because they reset it when they change the fuel pump so it only appears to be the fuel pump failing. I take it in tomorrow to get it looked at and this time they are going to address it as 2 separate issues. I know there was an issue with cars going into limp mode before that was ECU related but the CEL would stay on and the problem was consistent.

And if you already have been compensated for the issue I don't believe you would win in court by already accepting the compensation.......I don't think you'll see 13k from already accepting compensation. And I just wanna ask, but why keep going to the dealership and getting this changed when its going to be the same exact fuel pump that they just took out. Toyota I bet has a lot better lawyer than the ones "we" could afford.

My goal was to make it qualify for lemon law or get it fixed and you can be compensated and still win 98% of these cases never see a court room if it qualifies and you have the records to prove it they will just pay the settlement I'd love to take it in they figure it out fix it and be done with it. I'm picky about what I spend my money on any car I bought that was having these issues I would be doing the same thing no matter how good everything else is. It really depends on how much it bothers you but it drives me crazy and I often take my wifes car places because of it.

What do you think about an insulator sleeve over it? I saw that it has insulation on top of it already but maybe a thick sleeve of insulation could mask it so it can't be heard in the car.
