Autoweek says it again...
In the Dec. 10, 2012 issue, Autoweek again references an upcoming BRZ turbo. It appears in their report about the new Forester:
"The new turbo engine displaces 2.0 liters, compared to 2.5 in current spec. It will also power the forthcoming BRZ turbo, with direct fuel injection developed by Subaru rather than the port/direct-injection combo engineered by Toyota for the normally aspirated BRZ and Scion FR-S. A single twin-scroll turbocharger mounts below the top of the block to maintain the boxer engine's low center of mass." This last point might indicate how the engine could work for the BRZ. |

Has this actually been confirmed by scion or is it still just magazine speculation based on a one off sema car that had a trd supercharger? Just because toyota has to release one for racing homologation rules doesnt mean scion will bring it to north america

The article is confusing the BRZ with the next-gen WRX. It's already been announced that the turbo FA20 will power that car. |

Yes, but what he was saying it we know TOYOTA will release it, but that doesn't mean they will bring it to the US for the scions.

I don't know about that. The U.S. has routinely missed out on hot versions of Japanese sports cars. I hope I'm wrong though and Toyota USA/SCION realizes the potential cash cow a factory warrantied FI option would be for them.

If they get a significant profit on the car yes it's a cash cow. If they continually lose money to "warranty" work from modified cars...they'll drop the model eventually.
