Autox isn't track time. A 20 minute lapping session at a road course with 100+ mph speeds is worlds different than a 60 second run on a track where you might hit 70.

Even IF you by chance beat your friend in his STI it is only a matter of time until he learns how to drive his car at which point you will always be second. Tires, Brakes, AWD, Boost, Technology all add up to a stout package. My best friend has a BRZ his dad a brand new STI - both are accomplished drivers and neither can get the BRZ to complete an AutoX faster than the STI. So like I said, you have the driver advantage for now but that will surely fade.

I own an '11 STi and my BRZ. I would have to say that if he knows how to get the STi to rotate, it should completely stomp an FRS/BRZ stock for stock.
The technology in the 08+ STi's just make them so quick despite being as fat as they are. I will say that driving the 11 STi isn't nearly as fun through turns, because it just feels like a truck to me. As always this is going to really come down to who can out drive the other one, but I give the advantage to the STi.. it simply has the power to make up for mistakes where the BRZ/FRS does not. |

N/A > Turbo when it comes to low speed races unless you have something like a 335i which spools up quite quickly. AWD is really not an advantage as you tend to understeer more going into curves than a RWD would. I see some people that say the launch would be beneficial with the STI, but I have only had a couple races where I could actually get up any speed at the very beginning. Most throw you right into a turn immediately following the start. This has been my experience anyway.

The front warped during the 6 runs and the rear warped due to the E-brake. 160-55 takes a big tole on stock breaks. Even brembos. (plus this was at 20k miles and over 10 track days and 2 Rallyx events. The fronts were already looking to be replaced. But since I made the mistake that one time of putting my E-brake on with the excitement to tell my buddy I stomped his Evo in turn 5.... I had to finally replace all 4. The 2 rear warped rotors were directly related to the E-brake incident. If you want me to get technical. "keep in mind it was around 50ish degrees outside and there was water everywhere. So when you just get off the track after some serious braking and have to drive through a god forsaken puddle then put on your E-brake in a no brainer attempt to brag to your evo friend moment. Shit happens ahaha. Like I said learned my lesson. Now I have track pads and wheel stoppers/blocks.

I don't get how this could be an issue on the BRZ. Im assuming that you dont want to use it due to the hot pad being left squeezing the rotor. It uses a drum in hat ebrake which isn't used in normal braking, so it shouldn't cause heat transfer but I could be wrong.
