It makes sense now why the part #'s are kept the same! The incorrect orientation of the hpfp plunger stopper is the root cause of the chirp, can we all agree on this as factual info now?

Those FRS owners who've had the chirps come back likely didn't have the plunger stopper in the HPFP oriented correctly during reassembly.
The Scion TSB should be updated with the crucial info from the Subaru TSB to avoid any misunderstandings about the root cause and the countermeasure!

I always drive spiritedly....chirp always there....But...I filled up with chevron twice and the chirp went away. It got quieter after first fill up and went away after second chevron fill up. I then filled up with the usual QuickTrip I use and the chirp immediately came back! QuickTrip says others fuels are fruit punch! Then QuickTrip is tap water!
Anyway I had the fuel pump RnR the other day. Chirp is not back, but I have Chevron in the tank right now, gonna use QT just to test it out. However, the new fuel pump is making a noisy clanking/ticking sound Is this normal? My old pump only had the chirp not the clap I mean clank! This is driving me nuts, Im very ocd and makes me not like the car.
Im also having horrible rattling from door panels when stereo is on. I pin pointed it to the window control switches, brought it to the dealer and they said they didnt notice anything!
Im going back and showing them the rattles and make them fix it. I cant even listen to my stereo in a brand new car with out crappy rattle sounds.

Yes, the direct injection makes a tak-tak-tak sound, nothing like the high pitched chirping. Usually it's not that lound unless you have the hood up and are standing in front of the car. I never hear it inside the car, but maybe I'm just used to Subarus making noises.

Talk about a proactive dealer, that's outstanding. I bought my BRZ out of state so I'm not sure what kind of service I'll get from a dealer who did not sell me the car but we'll see when the time comes. So far no chirps and a bit of a seeking idle this AM so still early at 2,000 miles.

I don't know if it's the cooler weather or the switch to the winter reserve gas (decreed by the Gov. of California), but I haven't heard the nasty chirps in about a week. I keep trying to listen for it every time I get a chance, but none. Woohoo!!!

I noticed this as well. This Saturday I was going to take my car in for the chirping but I couldn't get it to make the noise within the 15-20 mins of driving. Although last night I did notice the chirping, temps were higher last night then on Saturday

I thought the correct orientation of plunger stopper in the HPFP is something that took place in the manufacturing of the HPFP, not something on in the install. If it was "install related" then they wouldn't need to replace the darn thing, they could just open it up and reposition the plunger stopper.

My car is now in the shop for the chirping. It has 4650 miles on it and I didn't have any problems with chirping until I drove my car down to Texas (about 800 miles). Dropped it off because of the idle issue and the fact that the engine would just randomly die. Dealership is working with Toyota and they want to fix the chirping first and see if that fixes the problems. I'm being told that the pump is on back order so I have no idea when it'll be in. At least some people have an eta so that's giving me some comfort.

From what I know, there is less oxygen in the winter reserves. Do you think this might having something to do with the chirps disappearing? I wonder...

So on the Subaru bulletin, it says VIN D*603383.

Does that mean cars with VIN's lower than that are affected?

It means that your car falls in the range where it could be affected. It doesn't mean that it necessarily has the problem.

Only about 250 miles on mine that was built on 9/19 and it already has crickets! (after the TSB vin number they have in the TSB)
