What's wrong with it being a Scion? Subaru and Toyota probably have an agreement to not compete in the US market, and the easiest way to avoid competition is to have different trim levels for different brands. The techies are going to go Subaru because it offers the options, and the bare-bones people who want the car for what it is (younger people) are going to go with the Toyota. No competition, see?

Selling a stripped-down version of the 86 makes more sense for Toyota's enthusiast brand Scion than it does for Toyota itself, where people expect bland cars with a million techno-features. I really don't understand this big push to re-badge your car as a Toyota 86. Quite frankly, you'd have an easier time with a Subaru since the 86 is much more luxury than the FR-S anyway.

That said, I can't wait for my FR-S to get here and I'm going to leave every scion badge in place. Why not help the brand get off the ground? They need a halo car for the TC driving set to look up to.
i must say that i de badged just because i do not like the culture/the aim for the brand. I can relate more to toyota. How ever you are absolutely 100% right in the fact that we should aid the brand growth. Seen it from that perspective, by us de badging our cars. We are hurting the brand that sells our cars, in other words What if the brand goes bankrupt ??? How much easier would that make our lives?

I never said there was anything wrong with Scion. Personally, I think it was a great marketing strategy for Toyota to pass the 86 over to Scion because Scion definitely needed a halo car instead of the TC. That said, I don't think Scion deserved this car because it draws its heritage from the Toyota AE86. Therefore, I believe it's more proper to have Toyota emblems on it rather than Scions'. Personal opinion.

From a more technical stand, rather than a badge/brand war arguement, I don't think that badge would fit where the Scion logo is on the front. Based on the lines of the hood and the shape of the indent where the badge sits, I would think only an oval badge would fit there. To me, it looks like anything that's any other shape would look odd.

That being said, I agree that it is his car, and he can stick that badge on there if he wants to do it. At least it's another Toyota badge and not Ferrari.

That is literally badge bastardizing. From a guy that owns a Soarer - shame on you.

Not my taste, but not my car either.

As an old guy driving this car, I can kind of relate to the Scion stigma. Feels kKinda like walking a chihuahua. Can't help but be a bit self conscious.

As to replacing the opposed pistons, I also would like to do this, but would prefer to replace with a insert that just matched the car color.

The nose of the car has an oval indent. Aesthetically, unless the badge fits perfect it will look bad. From a car guys perspective, Subaru, Toyota, and scion badges are enough for this car! You already have three to choose from. lol

Its your car though, do what you want.

Not entirely.

Supra is one of inspiring car for 86.
Soarer & Supra has a lot of common stuff (that include chassis).

So Soarer is kinda like uncle-in-law of 86

Horrible. Just horrible.

No, no no no no no.

Supra and 86 are opposite ends of sportscar spectrum. They don't have anything in common and they have nothing to talk about. It's like a bad date.

Let me put this in Scott Pilgrim terms for you. The 86 is Knives Chau and the Supra is Ramona Flowers.

There are three ways to spell that mythological creature's name, and you somehow managed to still get it wrong:

1: Griffin
2: Griffon
3: Gryphon

That out of the way, your car is not a Soarer. You can get away with a Toyota badge in place of the Scion, but that's about it.

P.S. my "screaming chicken" badge is cooler anyway; this is back before Toyota had an official emblem:

If that's the case, 2000GT which is grandfather of 86 wouldn't either. BUT 86 took a lot of chassis design from 2000GT... same w Supra & Soarer.

Supra/Soarer & 86 aren't directly related... but they're both related to sports car that inspired by.

I don't get why people are so annoyed that it's a Scion and not a Toyota. The Toyota Emblem looks out of place for me because imo a Toyota is a family/economy car. Maybe I've fallen for their marketing scheme, but I honestly believe the AE86/Supra/MR-2 would have been badged as Scions if the brand had existed. Scion is the enthusiast brand, Toyota is the family brand, and Lexus is the upscale brand. Makes sense to me. :/

Edit: Forgot my actual input on the question. xD The only thing I don't like about the Soarer badge is that it doesn't really fit with the car imo. If it's going on the front, it just clashes with the lines. I prefer the FR-S de-badged if anything.
