GT86 Plaque

GT86 Plaque

I decided I hated the blank recess where the heated seat switches would normally go. It was too shallow to put anything worthwhile in so I wondered what would be a cool finishing touch. I then realised my car had no identity so decided to fabricate a numbered plaque.

This is the first prototype I have come up with. It is real carbon fibre (I tried my hardest to find the Toyota T Carbon style pattern like the rest of the car but so far can't find anything). The centre section is stainless steel and is all waterjet cut by myself. The engraving has been waterjet too but it's not 100% perfect so I may go down the proper machine engraving route. The plaque isn't actually screwed to the car as I didn't want to leave any marks although each piece is screwed together using stainless bolts. I may decide to use double sided velcro to keep it in place but after a 600 mile trip on country roads it didn't make a sound or move a mm. Sorry about the dust on it in the picture but you get the idea. If anyone else would like me to make one for your car let me know and I could price it up. What do you guys think? Cool or Lame?

I think it's pretty cool. I would be interested in one without the 86 and boxer pistons. Let us know when you price it out.

What I did is pretty lame compared to what most of you are up to. I installed the BRZ trunk lid liner in my FR-S. Took all of 2 maybe 3 minutes!!

That is awesome. I was thinking of doing something similar. I'd also be interested in one.

I am a huge fan of this as well. Somehow all my passengers have scratched that section up and I would love a way to cover it up. Am I understanding it correctly that it is just sitting in the recess and not attached at all?

In fact, to take the bling a little bit further; instead of the 86 boxer design have another seperate plaque saying: Built for (owners name).

Added the HID_Powerhouse LEDs for the reverse, license plate, dome, and trunk lights.

Will be adding the black roof vinyl overlay from blue_batmobile next weekend

I ordered a set of the 6000k EvoR HIDs, the bulbs are H11 and fit fine, however the connector on the ballast doesn't fit the headlight wiring harness for the car. The prongs on it are too far apart and don't fit into the slots on the headlight wiring harness.

I PMed them and am currently waiting for a response. I'm pretty pissed too because it took over a week to get them as they were shipped from Canada.
