Just got off the phone with a rep because mine was at lunch. Long story short my car went in 9/6 the hopeful ETA on my parts is 9/25 I was told I will get a call on 9/25 with an update on if the parts are shipped at the dealer or still on order.

I was told their system updates once a week on Mondays. I played dumb and asked when my car went in and then asked about the lemon law already knowing the answer.

I was told that if my parts were still on order the 25th they would talk to me about my options.

I think my problem right now is not being able to drive my car and the fact that it may be over 30 days in the shop. I don't want to sound like an ass or anything but listening to them on the phone it sounded like they really didn't know what to say and that they wanted to get me off of the phone before I started asking to many questions that they knew they had no answer for.

At this point I would rather them just give me a new car because I feel like that would be at the dealer before my parts.

I thought to myself if asked what would make me feel better about this whole situation I would respond with a new FRS or different FRS. I just feel like no matter what happens I will always have in the back of my mind that the issue may not be "fixed" and come 60k+ miles I might be screwed.

Does anyone know how the Lemon Law works? Do I get the money I put down plus any payments I made back if I need to be given a new car? How does that whole situation work?

It depends on your state. In Washington, dealers get three chances to fix a problem with the car (or the car is out of commission for 30 non-consecutive days within the first 24 months or 20,000 miles).

If your car is found to be a lemon following arbitration, the manufacturer must either provide you with a new car or buy yours back. Depending on the issue, sometimes the manufacturers issue full refunds while other situations result in a prorating based on the mileage of your car.

Another option is the Better Business Bureau Auto Line. I had a series of issues with the first car I bought brand new, and just filing an issue with the BBB resulted in the manufacturer buying my car back. They didn't give me a full refund (the car had over 10,000 miles on it), but the process was surprisingly painless.

Another car I bought had a series of annoyances, and although none were too severe, the manufacturer gave me an extended warranty and a cash settlement. In that situation, I simply contacted the manufacturer directly and told them my displeasure.

In both circumstances, I provided copious notes with dates, times, people whom I spoke with, and dealer invoices (for the warranty attempts). Oh, and I mailed hard copies directly to the consumer headquarters via certified mail (with the green card they have to sign and send back). Even small amounts of effort demonstrating your seriousness can go a long way in getting a settlement.

Hope that helps!

THEY said they could work with that. lol, i got a call on friday after my car was in the shop for almost a week, and they updated me on my car, and said monday they would have another update regarding my compensations.
This is going to be the rares part you have considering 5Axis is a American company haha

I hope I get compensated for dealing with my delaerships garbage. They offered my lifetime detailing whenever I bring my car in for service but after I brought my car in for a oil car and got it back covered in swirls and a huge ass scratch on the hood which the told me came from wax I will be paying cash and going somewhere else if things work out for me

I am honestly surprised any of you are being financially compensated at all. I assumed all compensation would be in the form of free warranties(which only cost them if used), and accessories at their cost(free to you) that they install for free.

These nice compensations are a sign of them caring and will hopefully lead to finding a fix to the actual problem. I'm guessing they are taking this serious just from the actions from this thread, since in fact they do not owe us anything more then what is disclosed in the warranty terms

Wonder how much less a 'lemon' vehicle sells for. Much cheaper to make the customer happy. Lemon laws in Ohio force the mfg to buy back the car, all taxes, fees, delivery, installed accessories, credit insurance, loan fees, etc. Pretty much everything. Then they have to 'brand' the title of the vehicle which will make the car forever a 'lemon'. I can only assume that will dramatically affect the value of the car forever.

Hmm..mine has been in the shop twice for a fuel pump issue. Quick fix but the first time was on the day I bought the car and the second time was after a week of owning the vehicle. I wonder if the third time in would be considered lemon worthy? Not that I want to get a new FR-S but having to worry about future problems is not fun.

"Lisa" finally got back with me after over a week of "looking into my concerns on a case-by-case basis because there sure is not a wide-spread issue here, nope no issue at all..."

Let me preface this by stating that despite this being Scion USA, I was told I had to fax my copy of my purchased warranty. When I asked if I could just e-mail her a PDF, because who the hell owns a fax, she obviously lied and told me their "email system is too old to accept attachments..."

Up until I changed jobs about 4 months ago I primarily deployed Microsoft Exchange 2010 for a living, usually higher end multi-premises and HA deployments. I've walked into some tragically outdated situations, I'm talking swinging Lotus Domino 6.5.4 from circa 2000 to something modern. Or worse yet some cludge of vanilla ISP accounts. Never have I seen an e-mail system so old that it "doesn't accept attachments". You would literally have zero business continuity without this ability, and I refuse to buy for even a second that Toyota / Scion can't accept fucking e-mail attachments. Conclusion: I'm obviously being lied to. Not a good sign.

So I'm being asked to fax in a copy of my warranty purchase, fine. They should have a copy of it, but whatever. Since I can't find an accessible Fax system I grab one of about a dozen fax apps for the iphone and use the always wonderful Turboscan to generate a nice-but-admittedly-not-flawless PDF of my sheet and fax it to to her. Here's a sample:

She complains that it came in too light, that I will need to send it again. Since I'm driving home from my job around this time, and probably won't have time to fax it in before COB, and since i don't think it's possible to get a much better scan, I ask her why she can't just look it up or contact the dealer.

She then hems and haws about how the dealer will drag their feet about sending it in, at which point I realize just what she is doing and I completely lose it. She's putting the onus on me to send them a copy of a document that they probably have in multiple locations in their own records. At the very least a customer conscious representative should acquiesce and get the form from the dealer. Perhaps even, oh, I don't know, tell the dealer to do their goddamned job and get them the records they require to service their customer.

Nope, not Lisa, she has to force me to send her again a "darker" copy of the goddamned paperwork, jump through hoops to help them reimburse me for their own screw up.

So I send it in to her Thursday, and don't hear back until today (the following Tuesday) at which point she informs me that they are willing to go halves on my warranty, which was $1340. So despite my inability to ever trust this car, they are willing to hook me up with the warranty for half-price.

I'm so insulted I am unable to really contain my displeasure at the offer. I inform Lisa that I want to speak to her supervisor, who is supposed to call me back to discuss.

Welp that's my story. Nothing to really add except "What the hell Scion? Seriously."
