The dude is confirmed to work for Subaru on NASIOC. He isn't just some noob making crazy claims. If one questions him, one would also have to question TRDLiquidSilver on here as it is the same exact situation; just posting on different forums and working for the opposite company. I personally think they are both probably legit.

Not saying that he doesn't work for them. Just saying that he's full of shit. Why would Toyota contract subaru to do ALL the engine work on an FR car?

Further more, we already know the lead engineer (I think) is Tetsuya Tada who works for, you guessed it, Toyota.

i'm sure there's some bitterness and a sense of rivalry between the subaru engineers and toyota engineers. perhaps the subie guys don't think they're getting the credit they deserve?

I'm still going to guess the one trotting around in these pics/vids from the last few days are the Suby model, and the Scion FR-S will be Toyota's offering. After all, they have to differentiate the two some how, and this will be in exterior/interior styling and materials most likely. This test mule screams Suby style to me, and that the Scion/Toyota one would be more "edgy" which is more par for the course for them.

It's certainly not uncommon for automakers to have multiple mules either btw. They may have one for suspension tuning and hi-stress testing, along with everyday wear and tear testing. Plus, it's more free advertising and hype-making...

If the Mk II is the Subaru model, I'm buying it for sure. I planned to be a Toyota fan boy, but I'll toss that out the Window for the Mk II.

Plus, I'd have to switch to Scion anyway. Just a name change, but same principle.

I don't think he or Subaru would claim they are doing all of the engine work; we know Toyota is adding D4-S. But the guy sounds legit and isn't just some floor salesman at a local Subie dealer. He really does work for SOA. We shall see how it plays out. As long as it is a great car, I could care less who takes the lead on this project.

+1.
With all the direct injection, revising chassis and testing that car to get data, Toyota deserve half of the credit.

This is a joint venture with a Subaru engine. I wouldn't be surprised if Subaru did all of the engine testing considering that they developed the engine.

We aren't so much talking about credit per-say. More of what the guy from SOA says is really going on behind the scenes. According to him there are no Toyota/Scion parts, they are all Subaru parts; even on the Toyota/Scion version. Also said that this car is being built in Subaru plants. All versions of this car are being built by Subaru; the Toyota, the Scion and the Subaru versions to be built by Subaru.

And tbh, it doesn't matter which badge is on the test car - we are building all of them and it's our engineering in both versions. The badgework is just that.. badgework.
We shall see if this is true.

Could be. Toyota owns Subaru, so Toyota can just let one of their company to the work and they decide. It may be Subaru built part because it's very inefficient if Toyota build that in Toyota plants too. However, saying Subaru does all the engineering work is beyond me.

Yeah I don't want to speak for SOA blog, just was sharing what they shared. We know that Toyota has helped with providing D4-S. I'm sure there are other things they are doing as well.

Maybe he meant, Subaru does all the engineering work with new engineers borrowed from Toyota.
