I just got my shipping confirmation. I ordered it 4 weeks ago now. Unfortunately, I'll be out of town for a week or so, but afterwards I'll post some pictures and give a writeup about how buttery it is or isn't.

I quickly installed the Flossy Shorty and I was impressed with how much smoother the the shifts were.
I installed it by shimming under in inside of the knob to clock the shift pattern. I threw it together using some misc hardware as shown. The screw keeps the washers in position and the screw head adds to the 0.188 to 0.250 total thickness. The trick would be to use about $0.25 worth of #6 aircraft hardware where a standard 0.032" washer = 2/3rd's of a turn and the light 0.016" washer = 1/3rd of a turn for the 12mm dia x 1.25mm (0.05") pitch thread. Here's a suggested hardware list if any one is interested: Truss Head Screw, Phillips Drive: AN526-632-R12, $0.06/each http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/hapages/an526.php or Pan Head Screw, Phillips Drive: MS35206-232, $0.06/eachhttp://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/hapages/ms35206.php Flat Washers: AN960-6 and AN960-6L, $0.02/each http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/hapages/flatwashers.php Lock Washer: MS35338-42, $0.02/each http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/hapages/lockwashers.php |

I did not get any special engraving or pattern on my shorty. I did find that due to the fact this is all metal, it doesn't bite into the threads a the end, making it easy to accidentally loosen.
So I took a small piece of thin cardboard and jammed it into the knob all the way, then screwed it on the shifter. The threads bite into the cardboard at the end, the friction is plenty for a solid grip that is not going to come lose, but you can take off any time you want it. I'm sure you could do this to make your engraving pattern line up the way you want, you'd probably just have to try a couple times. |

^ to make patters line up I've always just shoved a ball of tissue in the hole to help.
