I'm thinking about test driving an FR-S, and then look around at dealerships in the Houston area to see who will give me the best trade-in value on my 08 Scion tC.... Any suggestions on the best dealerships to try out?

I didn't sign anything, just gave them my CC info over the phone (they told me they wouldn't even take the money out of my account and they haven't). They also assured me it was 100% refundable so I figured at the very least I get first rights for refusal and I'm out nothing. After pleading with them, the most the salesman could offer was to let me make a list of options I'd want and he'd do his best to convince the manager to accessorize the car accordingly, no promises though. If by some miracle, the car comes out the way I want it then I'll pick it up. Otherwise, I'm happy to walk away and wait for something else to come along.

At first I was pretty upset by this, and I even considered posting on the blacklist thread. I later decided it wasn't worth the fuss, as this *could* turn out to be a decent transaction....I'll reserve judgement until after the car arrives.

I feel like I have feelers out everywhere in the general proximity, but if anyone knows of any BRZ Limited 6MT's out there PLEASE let me know!

after dealing with both west side subaru and Gillman southwest I actually decided to hunt for a Scion instead and couldnt be happier with my choice.
I was looking for a WRB BRZ and when they had one at west side subaru and called me about it they were placing a 2,000 mark up on it. Then I tried Gillman southwest, I missed a limited they sold the day before I got there but they had a Premium WRB BRZ that they installed a spoiler, chrome side vent, auto dimming and paint protection thing. Sorts out the car had an "accident" at the shop so it had a dent/scrape in the front bumper. They told me they will sell me the car as is for 28,000 .... this was a week ago.

Long story short, im now a proud owner of a whiteout FR-S, couldnt be happier!

Thanks for the insight, guarapo. Like you, I was talking with them about the WRB Limited, but it sold the day before I could get out there. I would prefer the car to be option free, but I gave them a list of items I was semi-interested in and that I could also remove and resell if I changed my mind. The Xylon paint protection that they push was the only thing I told them would be an absolute dealbreaker.

I've been getting disheartened and started looking at the Scion's too but I REALLY like the options on the BRZ Limited, and I am not a fan of the Scion's microfiber seats. I'll probably just hold out until I find the one I want at the price I want to pay.

FYI - I did find a WRB Limited at Huffines Subaru in Denton, but they have a $2k markup on it..."This is a rare opportunity that you will most likely never see again"...cough, BS, cough.

Spotted a White one on Cambridge in the medical center this morning on my way to school. Pretty! I can see why I wrestled so much in my mind thinking about that color!

Personally I had NO LUCK in Houston! I was looking for Automatic and EVERYONE told me they are only getting manuals, and the other ones that they are getting in are already sold?! So I went to Lewsiville, Scion (Dallas). Ask for Fred Stevens, biggest Scion dealership outside of Houston.

what the shit. i called gillman southwest before i placed an order at gillman north on 6/12/12 and they told me they would call me if any spots became available to order. i cant believe you already have a specific eta and you just placed your order :mad0 260:

I was one of the first 15 to put a deposit on a WRB BRZ. Still no date on when it's suppose to be here :-/

Either way I ended up getting a FR-S. and still on the waiting list for a BRZ

Just for the record, I did not place the order. It was the dealer's order that they offered to me. I was told it was supposed to be their showroom/demo car.

Well, it could be that they are trying to find cars around the country to order in to sell at their dealership. A friend of mine took a picture with a rally blue one just recently at Southwest (I think). Not sure if it sold quickly or not. I got mine at Gillman North but I was also #4 or 5 on the pre-order list from April.

Talk to Razek or Kelvin at Joe Myers on 290 and Eldridge. I test drove an asphalt AT about 6-8 weeks ago and they asked what I needed to buy the car. I said it has to be orange (didn't know the proper name then) and manual. They called me about 3 weeks before they got that exact car at the dealership to tell me they were getting it. I gave them $500 deposit over the phone (which they never charged me for until I bought the car) and it was mine to refuse after I test drove it. I think the dealerships are getting cars randomly, i.e. not knowing what the color or tranny is. Joe Myers has treated me right so far...

Yeah, I don't think they know what they are getting until a few days prior. I've been dealing with All Star Scion of Baton Rouge and the sales mgr is giving me updates as he gets his allocations. I told him what I'm looking for (manual, any color but firestorm or argenta) and he's been letting me know what he's getting (autos).

After hearing about a lot of the clutch-clunking issues, I may wait a bit to actually buy one. I'll probably still go test drive though..
