I use one of these.
https://mounts.factoryoutletstore.co...gitemid=479211 Stays firm in place on the track (even during those off track excursions). Video taking, lap timing and extra gauges. |

Just cross posting this from the 3D printing thread.
Check out our universal cell phone mount. It has a pretty standard ball end to attach to your favorite style holder. We have a clamp style and a MagSafe style shown here. The print is attached with 3m VHB double sided tape to the dash. We've uploaded it for free to download on our site. https://ansixauto.com/2022-brz-gr86-cell-phone-mount/

I use the Scosche MMWSM-XCES0 MagicMount. Goes on the bottom left of the windshield. Phone is sideways/landscape. This lets the phone's bottom edge rest on the flat portion of the dash for extra support. It kinda just blends in with the dash.
I prefer it being up there for using maps. Then I'm not looking down around the radio/HVAC area for map directions. The main downside is the suction cup is attached to the dash when not in use. I always remove it if I'm not using it, so the suction cup leaves dirt/grime on the windshield. Nothing a rag and glass cleaner can't fit, but it does look like crap right on your windshield. ... the mount has now lost it suction after about 2-3 year of constant removal. Only a weekend car, so it's not a everyday. I've also seen some people bring up possible issues with magnets and electronics/phones. I recall the days when you shouldn't put a powerful magnet near older computers in the mid-2000's and earlier. I don't think they'd sell magnetic mounts if they did significant damage to phones. I've seen no issues with maps, GPS, battery life, etc with magnetic mounts over years of using them.

Using RAM mounts and the X-Grip to hold the phone. Steady enough for daily usage and aggressive driving, and has never fallen off once in the two years since I had it even under the hot sun.

I still have my 2014 BRZ. This place got kind of boring and dead for a while though, so I stopped checking in. |
