I've made $300 out of 3 car washes. This is going better than expected. Except for my back, which is not completely enjoying it. Slowly building up clients for the rest of this summer. The main idea was to stay away from detailing jobs that would require shampoo the seats and all that jazz, but that seems to be the one service is going to make me some fast money. If I can make a weekly paycheck worth, before my vacation on the 22nd, I'll be extremely happy.

I have broken or seen broken dozens of studs in my day and that is the very first where somebody managed to break it off up inside the nut.

Anti seize is your friend.

I don't know if I can explain this quite right but I'll try. My dad told me when threading any type of nut to set it on the bolt, spin it counter-clockwise about a half turn, then tighten it. It won't ever cross thread. While it doesn't handle every mistake that can be made, it makes sure that it's threading straight.

Yes, because as you spin it ccw, the first threads line up. I do that too.

Really? This was the first time busting the studs. Other 2 I busted was pretty much same.

Nope! It was tighten in the spec. Very long story short, I got the defect ARP studs & somehow it was working w Kics nuts & I’ve used it for few years… later on I’ve replaced it w Muteki nuts due to Kics’ lug nut washers wearing out. Few months later it seized up. Tow my car to the shop & replaced all of em.

Porsche and Lotus say yes. That's good enough for me.

Torque spec is for non-lubricated fastener. It's easy to over-torque lubricated fastener but the lube is WAY better if it is taken into account when the fastener is torqued. I almost always under-torque

Is looking like I'll be able to take the BRZ to North Carolina. I just have to mentally prepare myself for the 12 hour ride back. The way over is easy since we do in the course of 2 days.
