Great job man and thank you for the information on replacing the bomb!
I don't understand why manufacturers feel they have to market us differently than the rest of the world. I'm definitely a Toyota fan. Your car looks sweet!

Someone just needs to make a product that can take out the scion logo from the airbag and put something else in its place.

i'm working on it, but for myself instead I would have bought this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-2013-TO...f63e84&vxp=mtr

looks a lot more badass and seems to be the same price.

The steering wheel doesn't come with the airbag bro. So you can have your red steering wheel, but you'll still have to put on the scion airbag.

I wasn't "flaming" the OP, just agreeing that the price was absurd. Nowhere did I direct any comments toward the OP (nor did the post I quoted). We just agree that $800 is absurd. Didn't call the OP any names.

While I am not 100% certain because I didn't want to try destroying my airbag. This is what I observed:

There are only two parts to the airbag assembly. The charge(bomb) and the actual bag itself which is attached to the vinyl part. There is no way to separate the two without ruining the airbag. If you want to try, you can but know that a brand new Scion airbag retails for about $650. Take a look at the picture, that pink part is the actual bag which is nicely packed in there and right behind the vinyl.

While I do wish there was/is a more cost effective way to do the change, it really seems as though this is the only way to SAFELY do it. Please let us know if you discover another way man.

Well... regardless of how you want to classify all the negative posts about this mod and its cost, I think you get my point that he can always resell the item without much of a loss.

I love this mod, I just wish it was cheaper.

Also, anyone know if the 86 JDM steering wheel (with the red trim) would work with our USDM models? It would be a killer match in Firestorm!
