There could be some differences here and there, but what do I know. After dropping $40K on a car, I'm sure the least of my worries would be that everyone knows that I got Weathertech inside my Corolla with a GR badge. So, Husky liners, would be more than welcome.

That's a very specific set of numbers. You're acting kinda sus >.>

If it had been a dressed up base hatch (like I thought it would be) then $32K would have been a reasonable expectation.
It is not!
From what I have read it is about 75% or more bespoke to the GR with very, very little being parts bin. This is going to push the price way up from a dressed up normal production car.
My guess is that iche's numbers may be a bit conservative.
Anybody wanting one of these had better be prepared to pay for it!

I dunno, looks more and more likely that the Core is going to start around $32,000. Circuit though, probably around $40k (regardless of how special its hard to imagine more than an $8k premium for a trim package with identical powertrain).

The hatch doesn't have many trim levels but there is a $3,000 spread between base and top. The "top" gives you some wheels, stuck on bits and a better head unit.

When you look at the sedan that has so, so, many levels and there is an $8,000 spread. Even then most of what you get are some stuck on bits and "luxury" doodads.

The GR is not a trim level of the hatch in reality it is it's own vehicle so the price of trim levels mean nothing.

A base WRX starts at $29K, a STi (when you could get them) at $38K, a CTR at $37K and the Focus RS started at $37K back in 2018.

Very, very optimistic thinking a $32K price tag is probable when these are the cars it is being compared to. As you said the speculated $8K difference between the two levels is too much. Unfortunately this is probably because the guess at the price of the base is way too low not because the other is too high.

Ichi's estimate stands at this point!

I think the GR Yaris was somewhere around 10k more than the equivalent regular Yaris.
So i'd expect that gap to be the same, maybe a bit less since theres alot more Corolla in the GR Corolla than there was Yaris in the GR Yaris.

I think it was more like $13 or $14K which would still push it over this $32K mark.

I hope for the sake of those that are interested that I am way off base but at this point I feel that optimism is blinding some to reality.

I don't even want to know what they will set the price for it in Canada!

And this is before markup!

Sorry for any confusion. When I said $8k between trim levels, I was referring to the GR only. In other words, $8k between Core and Circuit. My dealership seems to think $32-35k to start, and Car and Driver thinks $32k. So here's hoping!

The ugly (imo) forged carbon roof probably costs quite a bit vs the core's steel roof. IF it is actually $32k for a base core, that's not factoring the front and rear LSD, nor the better audio system.

I would count on around $35k for a base core. Close to $40k for a loaded core, and a fair chunk over 40 for the CE. This is based on GR Yaris pricing in UK, considering that the GR Yaris is a bit more bespoke compared to the regular Yaris than the GR Corolla will be compared to Corolla.

The bigger problem will be obtaining one - especially the CE. Only the most determined will actually be able to get a CE. Getting anything will be a headache.

Really? Thick?

Being an old guy that grew up with big block V8s I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, be able to look at a sub 100cu in, three cylinder engine and think "power" even though there is no reason there can't be.
