More of topic, has anyone compared what CarMax is offering for trades vs Carvana?
Carmax offered $1k more than Carvana and KBB partner dealerships supposedly were $2k above Carmax but I didn’t want the hassle plus I feel like it was to get me in the door anyway.

That's how I feel about the high Carmax offer that I got, especially since the closest one is 2 hours away.

After seeing trippinbillies40's walkaround video showing a dealer-drilled bumper, I gotta ask what the consensus is on the best time to tell your dealer to NOT drill holes. Too early and they might forget? Too late and they might have done it already...

Even on my parking lot special base model 2014 Mazda3 the dealer asked if I wanted holes drilled before doing it... (though this was when dealer plates were still allowed). Same story on the 2017 WRX, drove the car home without holes in the front.

Saw someone on FB that ordered from the same dealership as I did is getting their car next week so I hope mine is also on that truck. We’re down a car and one got a flat just before I was leaving so my plans for the evening didn’t happen. Only have a donut so wasn’t taking that out on the distance I planned. Would have been nice to have this one in my driveway to use.

Can the sales guy put a note in the file that goes with the PDI instructions? There has got to be a way they communicate this to the techs.

Just got my VIN - WRB/Limited/Manual that I ordered on 8/29. Still a "mid-November" delivery date.

Starting to worry about something, though... for those of you that pre-ordered, did you get any signed documentation to lock in price? I got mine at MSRP, put down a $500 non-refundable deposit, and have record of the whole transaction via email. I haven't gotten any shenanigans from the dealership yet, but after reading stories, really wishing I would have gotten something signed on their end...

I signed the price sheet and agreed to $500 off with it written on there, they made a photo copy and kept the original. I'm over cautious having worked in a dealership for 4 years and seeing the BS they try to pull LOL

I plan to text my salesman the week the car arrives, and the day of. That's assuming I get an ETA in the first place, he hasn't been around the past week or so to give me that info.

That said, that delivery date may not even be accurate at this point. I'm probably going to end up with holes drilled in my front bumper and should just expect to get it that way.

I submitted to CarMax and got an offer on my 2020 Base 86 for $30k. Anybody have experience with them?

I've sold several cars to Carmax, it's pretty painless. They will cut you a check quickly. There is no hassle about buying a car from them, in fact they have never even mentioned it to me when I sell them my cars. The only hold up is waiting for the paperwork (title transfer/existing loan payoff etc.), usually around an hour.
