When you get a chance, could you explain (or show) where your oil&water lines for the turbo will be going? Reading through your earlier posts you said "The K20Z3 water pump and housing will be used to supply the coolant feed line for the turbo." I thought that the barb on the front of the water pump was for the oil cooing on the stock engine. Maybe I'm misunderstanding or there is another line that I'm not seeing.

Thanks for the help!

Pretty simple: I’m basically using the stock water feed and return location for my turbo that is normally used to cool the stock oil cooler like you mentioned. I am using a Greddy external oil cooler sandwich plate to run oil lines to my Jackson Racing radiator/oil cooler.

The K20A2 or k20Z3 has a port on the water pump for the supply. The return goes into the block near the oil pressure sensor as pictured. The feed line will go to the low side of the turbo, which will be clocked at 20 degrees, and the return will leave the high side of the turbo. This is designed to create a thermal siphoning effect when the car stops to cool the turbo down.

If someone was dead set on using the stock oil cooler then they could run the feed to the cooler, and then run the oil cooler return to the turbo as the feed to the turbo, and then run the turbo return back to the block. This will cool the turbo less effectively, but it should still do something. The alternative is to run the feed directly to the cooler, and then run the turbo return into the oil cooler, and then out, but the turbo will heat the water so much that the oil cooler will be far less effective. In the other way, the differential in temps is so high, warmed water from the oil cooler is probably still no where near hot enough to ruin the cooling effect.

Clear?

Overall, worth the wait and some headaches along the way.
where did you order the dp/manifold from?

Okay, I understand that better. The port on the K20A2/Z3 water pump is for moving water to the stock oil cooler. (I'm dumb and thought it was moving oil for some reason). So let me see if I have this straight:

Water line from K20A2/Z3 water pump --> Turbo Water Feed
Water line from Turbo back to block --> Turbo Water Return
Oil line from Jackson Racing Oil Cooler --> Turbo Oil Feed
Oil line from Turbo back to Greddy Sandwich plate --> Turbo Oil Return

The Greddy oil sandwich plate will be the feed for the turbo and the feed to the Jackson Racing Oil Cooler. It has two feeds and two returns, so they will be operating in parallel and not in series. Feeds could be used for anything from an oil cooler, to oil sensors for gauges, or for a turbo feed. I will be using the ports for all of those. On the return side, one port will be used for the return for the oil cooler. I could have used the other port for the oil return for the turbo, but I’m using the 2NRS tensioner cover instead. I doubt it will matter, but the sandwich plate is already dealing with returning oil from the cooler and from the filter, and the 2NRS cover is slightly lower that the plate, and it drains into the timing cover, which is unlikely to ever result in oil coming back up the oil return on corners or draining poorly. Like I said, it may not matter, and it isn’t as clean looking, but that’s what I am doing.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all that. Absolute life saver!

I just finished the first week of nursing school.

At this point I am waiting for KPower. I have a crash bar coming in sometime next week hopefully. I’ll finish making brackets for the FMIC to the crash bar, and maybe use the crash bar to mount the horn, and then paint it, but free time is very scarce working in the ER full time and doing school. When I get the kit I’ll finish ordering the AN lines; the rest of the order is in the cart, and then I’ll buy the rest of the downpipe and the IC pipes.

So I haven’t had the best luck with getting items, having delays and shipping issues with receiving and with some items I’ve sold—pandemic problems. Specifically recently, I haven’t had the best luck with this drift bar. First, I end up waiting 2.5 months only to get a refund from Drift Armor when a delivery date couldn’t materialize. Then True Focus Fab comes through, saying they will ship in a week, and they do. In fact, they may have done FEDEX Express or next day because the label was created Friday, the package was picked up Friday night, and it said Sunday it would be here with a Monday delivery, but it never came. Tuesday it was found in Oregon from Montana saying the label was damaged and subsequently replaced, and it would then be delivered Wednesday, today, but that didn’t happen. No fault of True Focus Fab at all, but now it says delivery date unknown. I’m hoping for Friday. My wife says I wasn’t meant to have a drift bar.

True Focus are awesome. I had the same issue with FEDEX and their delays or not updating the shipping info at all.

Enjoy your Fruit snacks from True Focus because they send you some goodies with every purchase. Saving up for a front bash bar.
