Only reason to get the new one is for more torque, Everything else is cosmetic and can be tweaked. As a DD the car is fun and I just don’t feel like going though taking all the mods off, returning to stock and selling. Then buying a new car and doing similar mods again. While the car is not expensive, I figure it’s somewhere in the high teens just to get the new one and not worth it for the power. But I will reserve final judgement until I can drive one and feel the power.

I'm keeping my 2013 and will probably swap in the new engine once used motors become available and the professionals have written up guides and created the parts for a plug and play swap.

I'm counting on the gen 2 being prohibitively expensive in the EU to keep my gen 1's value high :-p
As far as OP I would not have bought a '20 if the gen. 2 was on my mind. Best bet would have been: -Wait 18 months and get a gen. 2 once the first issues have been ironed out or at least identified -get a used '15-16 for a lot cheaper |

You guys are assuming a whole lot here. Sure bolting the engine in will probably be fairly easy. Good luck getting the ECU to control it though. Or the car to talk to the new ECU. Engine swaps are difficult in modern cars because of electronics, not mechanics. Even the ‘easy’ ones usually don’t have AC, at least some gauges not working, forget about traction control or the immobilizer. I think the effort of swapping in any motor will dwarf the 28hp bump.
