Better yet, I know of a software engineer that basically outsourced his job to a guy in India for a quarter of his salary under the radar. So he got paid his full salary, paid a quarter of it to this other guy, and did nothing all day. Apparently it lasted for a few years. Then he went to jail.

I think it got worse over the years. The first couple years it wasn't too bad, most people just talk shit, no big deal. Then you match with a group of 4, they take turns TK'ing you and throw the match. It wasn't like I was bad, I was always gold ranked. But of course most of these kids think you are a scrub unless you are Diamond or Plat ranked.

I normally didn't use a microphone, just because I don't like talking to people. Bunch of shit talk that none could hear doesn't hurt anyone right? And then my family got a Kinect for the Xbox. Super embarrassing to learn that the Kinect microphone acted like an active headset that had no output. Took like 6 months to figure out why people seemed to hate me...

That sucks, I usually just shut it down and find something else to do. It is just not worth being annoyed when you are trying to do something enjoyable.

Nobody message you to "mute your mic!!!!"

I used to do that all the time because it seemed everyone with a kinect was clueless about it being a hot mic.

Did make for some interesting games a decade ao in MW2.
Everything from hearing people rage to intimate relations.

I agree, however, once I was able to return the favor and still get gud in the match, I was quite happy.

My father-in-law worked at a box manufacturing place asan unskilled labourer (packing and wrapping). The place got sold and new management came in and shuffled everybody around. Somehow he got missed and was never assigned a job or even a department. For over 3 years he just walked around the plant with a clipboard all day. They even gave him a raise a year into it since he had been there 5 years. Eventually some manager got around to asking him what he did and when his reply didn't line up with any of the supervisors (all of which thought he worked for another) they canned him.
