There was a thread on Reddit about a woman complaining that a dealership wouldn't sell her a car. Apparently, she was looking at a fully loaded CUV costing around $36K, but she couldn't get financing. She was offered a lower trim, but refused and proceeded to take to the internet to complain about her experience.

For $14K, you can have a https://www.chevrolet.com/cars/spark that comes standard with apply carplay and android auto, USB ports, 10!!! Airbags!!!, and rear camera.

But yea, people on a budget don't want a small, inexpensive hatch that will do 99% of what they need. They want a fully loaded CUV or truck that they should never, ever think about buying.

I always question these kind of stats. For example how do they know a male or female bought the car. MomHawk and I own 4 cars and they are all purchased by both of us. We rotate who is listed first on the title because in Georgia they use the person listed first to determine when the tags renew (which used to be a bigger deal when there was a property tax every year).

Eh, I think a lot of the young people today need to prioritize their money differently. Many of them are capable of affording a base compact car, but everybody wants a G wagon.

Yea, when I was driving around in my 20 year old $300 dollar beaters I would have been over the top for a base level new car like a Spark. Heck, all speced out it's a $17K car you can probably get for $15K.

It's still a lot of money but there are a lot of great used cars available for less money than the Spark.

That may be local. Half the women I work with drive trucks, but I am in Georgia. I work with one lady that drives an F250 duelly because she pulls a horse trailer on the weekends. It always garners a second look as she gets her petite 5'0" self in and out of it.

The accords front end is soooo much better than the 11th gen civic. The lines that it steals from the accord are rather unflattering, and make it look longer than it is. The civic should be somewhat of a compact car, not a lower trim Accord.

This civic won't be popular with young buyers imo, which is arguably one of the more important market segments. Young people will buy even more Kia/Hyundai at this rate.

I think they are stealing some lines from German cars, which is why I said the Accord is somewhat Mercedes’ish, and the Civic looks a little Jetta’ish, so maybe they are going for something more mature to match the more Scandinavian/simple interior.

To me it really just looks average and boring, and that's fine. Like I've said before, the Si/type r trims have a chance to redeem it somewhat in my eyes. It just sucks that the lower end sport trims won't be sporty in anyway besides a badge.

The Accord, idunno, it's honestly one of the best looking sedans on the market right now until you start breaching extreme prices. I can see what you mean about Mercedes'ish, but most Mercedes are ugly until AMG gets slapped on, the CLA and A-class are great examples of this.
