There are only two tC's (well 3 if you include Tanner's old one) that are RWD. It's not a common thing and those aren't the only tC's that are powerful/fast.

$10k-$20k if you pay a professional shop to do everything including source the parts. I've been looking into conversion for years since there are mostly only FWD economy cars in the 2500lb compact market. The first kit I found was the $5k Kugel kit that made it possible to drop a v8 engine and a Mustang live axle into the Ford Focus. It didn't include an engine, transmission, or a rear axle but it was designed to be a bolt in deal. The total cost depends entirely on what condition the parts are and how much of it you DIY.

In most cases the difference in performance wouldn't be noticable to the average joe, it's more a matter of better control, traction, and weight distribution.

Rather than doing that, I'd get a base RX8 and drop an LS1 into it. RX8s weigh like ~2800 lbs and with weight reduction you can probably get a pretty low weight, not to mention its a really comfortable 6 speed and handles well.

before the ft86 was annouced I was looking into doing a 240z with a LSx engine or a 2jz in a e46 bmw

but the cost calculations got out of control and a new car seems less headache prone

Ken Gushi's drift tC uses the original parts the tC's chassis was produced with. How much invested in that tC.....$100k.

I wouldn't want a V8 or live axle. I would have my 2az elongated. I'm pretty good in the control/traction department. I imagine my weight would increase.

You guys jumped on the V8 train as soon as I let it slip. I wasn't talking about putting a v8 and live axle in anything, my example was that a RWD conversion isn't as expensive as you think if they can sell a bolt in kit for a V8 and liveaxle that cheap!

I dont really care how much power this thing has as long as its fun to drive. I used to have a blast winding the shit out of my 4 banger accord lol and that thing was slow as hell. My 4000 lb 4x4 Tacoma would blow the doors off the accord but it was still fun to drive.
