Covid Lockdown Activities

Well, yesterday, mrs humfrz, with her trusty i-pad weapon figured she had bagged some TP. On line, at Walmart, with their U-pick up program. Our pick up window was from 1-2 PM today. She just got an e-mail that said they were "out of stock". So much for that strategy -

On a side note, the 3 ager came to me this morning and ask me to take her to the potty. So, when she was done, I noticed she had just peed, so I handed her about 4 sheets of TP. She corrected me and told me her father said to use only 2 sheets for peeing, 4 sheets for pooping.

Yes, but we're talking 'quality of wipe'.. 2 sheets or 4 sheets advice collapses if the paper isn't "man" enough so to speak..

Yes to all you said. I am just comparing one part of the equation there. My point was that people are complacent about the flu but there is no need to panic either.

Even then, people have some misconceptions that COVID is only bad for the elderly like it is for the flu.

The typical flu season will mostly be fatal for the elderly dying of secondary pneumonia. A few younger people die who have chronic diseases or who are genetically predisposed to be particularly susceptible to the virus.

For COVID, about half of hospital admissions are for people younger than 50. That is not even close to the case for the flu. If the US gets to the infection rates in the next two weeks to a month that Italy saw then many young people who need hospitalization may not get it, and then we will see them decompensate and die or get admitted, but be critical. Antibiotics, fluids or other supplies could become scarce or already run out.

On a side note: my hospital chain, but in Washington, is out of surgical masks and are now sewing new ones out of materials they purchased. We will be out of certain masks by the end of the week and pretty much are out of hard n95 masks.

Meanwhile in Canada I heard a radio commercial this morning for something called facemasks.ca (or similar name) where they claim they can have any volume of any type of mask to you in 24 hours. A freakin' RADIO ad!
