Well, it could be that I was infected, but, I have built up an immunity to those organisms by drinking raw milk as a kid.

I heard you, but I just don't believe they would do something just for our well being. Either mandated, or they suffered a lawsuit because someone altered the seat, so lawyers said to use a non standard nut. Or easier and cheaper with assembly. Probably a law in a major market.

Edit: so yes, you are probably correct, just would like to know reason.

They're ok with seatbelt removal, but not seat removal?

Because in some countries, seat belts are optional, but seats are mandatory (except in some counties of Idaho).

My dad's got a story that someone once stole the seats out of his dad's corvair, so he drove it while sitting on a milk crate for the next year.

He was probably better off, so that when the corvair flipped on the curves, he would have been thrown clear -

I well remember driving our 2 ton, 1941 Ford truck through the hay fields as my dad picked up the hay. I was so young, that I couldn't operate the clutch, brake and gas pedals and see out the windshield, so I had to open the door and lean out while hanging on to the steering wheel and look along side the truck to see where I was going.

Child labor laws? What was that?

They started using those weird type of heads on bolts, when they bolted down the hard drives on computers. They didn't want people taking them off unless they had the proper tools and knew what they were doing.

For example, back-in-the-day, my portable color TV (the kind with a picture tube) was acting up. So, I tore off the back and opened up the box that said "DO NOT OPEN THIS BOX" unless you are a trained technician.

Yep, so I opened it up and started adjusting the color guns with a screwdriver. Man, did I mess up that TV. So I took it down to the local TV repairman and asked him to fix it.

He asked what I had done. I told him. He asked if I had used a plastic screwdriver? I said no. He said "do you want me to throw this TV away, or do you want to take it home and throw it away"?

That ended my TV repair career. -

TV repair. Now there is something from the past.

Reminds me of my job as a senior in high school. I had enough credits that I got out at 11:30 each day, and went to work delivering parts to radio and TV repair shops. On Tuesdays I went all the way down to Salinas. Friday's over the hill to Santa Cruz. TV repair shops, man I feel old.

Now THAT brings to mind where I took my TV to be repaired (junked). The ol boys TV repair shop (which is now a Subway - I see) was in Sandy Hook and was along side a small river/large stream and he would sit in his shop and fish out of his window.

Yes, Sandy Hook, Connecticut, was a sleepy little town, until that tragic school shooting a while back.

I lived about 5 miles from there for 7 years.

We cab swapped my buddies 4Runner and didn’t finish it before it had to be driven out of my shop at work so we ratchet strapped a 5 gal bucket and he drove it home broke heater core and all.

Only story i got with seats is my s2000 was at a shop getting fitted for various racing seats. but at one point i had to move it without the seat so i sat on the floor... to be fair it wasnt a bad seating position and my head cleared the soft top....

Part of the reason is right in the name. Torx bolts can be tightened more than screws or hex heads in a tight spot. This is also of course what makes them much harder to remove. The other reason is speed of assembly and robotics. Since they do not require as precise placement of the tools they are the choice for awkward locations and a robot can scoop one out of a bin and maneuver into position.
It has nothing to do with stopping people from messing with them since the tools have been readily available as long as the bolts have existed.
