Interesting to see that if you go to http://www.subaru.com.au/brz it no longer redirects but gives you a 503... Not long to go!

On the online ordering thing sounds both really bizarre and really intersting to me. I wonder if they are trying to keep their margins up to compete with Toyota. You'll have to pay RRP if you buy it this way. What I can't work out is how dealers will make any money to compensate them for the time showing people the car, going on test drives etc!?

I can only assume you'll still choose a dealer for delivery and they'll get paid for that?

Someone said dealers will use the same website as others to order, so maybe if they do that they get commission, if you just do it from home they don't... Who knows, certainly will be interesting to see if this is an attempt to innovate on the process... Seems like the perfect car to do it with given the demand and presumably young and tech savvy demographic.

Take note Toyota !
From Monday at 12, you can order online and find out exactly when to expect delivery.
You then choose which dealer you want your car delivered too.
I think I'll be having a look, if I can get one before my expected 86 arrival, I'll make the switch!

Vic park just had their demo BRZ arrive today, WR Blue auto. Manual demo model yet to arrive. Here is a pic of it. Looks heaps nicer than the GTS 86's ive looked at. Then again this car was getting detailed the moment i was looking at it.

Wangara prob a bit of a trek for me to check out. Apparently the only dealerships in the the state that'll have both the auto and manual BRZ to view are City Subaru (which where are the photos are from), and Osborne Park Subaru. From previous experiences City Subaru staff are pretty friendly and approachable to inquires and all, Osborne Park Subaru have a few knob jockeys in the sales area.

Im guessing all the demos are going to be the WR blue. Which is pretty epic in person nearly as good as the sonic blue and velocity orange colours ive seen on the GTS.

Around 2 months ago I was told by my local dealer that Subaru had 300 orders for the first 200 cars and that orders were closed.
I put down a $500 pre deposit to get to be 1st in line when orders were being taken again. A month later gave them an additional $500.
Yesterday put $2,000 on Visa to make up the $3,000.
Manual $37,150 drive away.
Today (friday) called into dealer and at 3pm Subaru had only 8 orders on their system,
7 manuals only 1 auto.
No mention of additional charge for paint

This article just went up http://www.themotorreport.com.au/545...e-in-australia

Interestingly confirms 201 cars BUT gives a breakdown of 50 going to dealers as demonstrators and 28 as being pre-ordered... Leaving 122 cars still available.

As usual, who knows who to believe...

Few other details in there too.

Edit: couple more on carsales, assume a few other places, guess there was a media embargo until Friday midnight.

Hello all,

New hear, but have been lurking. Test drove a 86 GT yesterday. Tempted, but would really like the digital speedo and the centre stack does look very cheap. So the BZR specs are exactly what i am after. Hopefully the wait is not 18 months like the GTS. And i like the idea of ordering online (for an in demand car without discounts available). Fingers crossed for Monday.
