So, what happens when you hit a puddle? I'd hate to crack a housing or cause shingling.

Easily fixed with a metal splash guard/cover.

$300

Problem is they are the most reliable ones on the market. Noway around it and you'll be banging your head against the wall if you bought one that was inferior and went out. Just a tow alone would cover the difference in price from next cheaper unit available.

wow that location really turns me away! Why did you mount it so low? Is their enough airflow to the turbo? If you install a splash guard wouldent that decrease air flow to the turbo? Why couldent you mount it around the engine bay? That location is really giving me second thoughts about this :C

This is the only realistic location for the do it yourselfer. The turbo doesn't need any airflow. If anything there is more airflow here than in any OE position on any car I can think of.

Mounting it in the engine bay requires the exhaust to route through sensors and wiring. That doesn't sound like a tradeoff I would like to make. Relocation of more essential components as well.

Wow, a kit that would use the full stock exhaust!? That's incredible. That would also help keep the price down as well. And would make installation easier. I'm thinking about installing myself now and then towing to get it tuned.

I've talked to a few people interested in turbo kits who have been talking about this same location, actually.
