I believe you're right. After additional reading it appears that it won't affect me much, if at all. My new build will be only be used for gaming, work and as an occasional media server. My work is mostly spreadsheets and databases, but nothing that will be noticeably affected by this issue.

Reading through all of it, including other sources, it seems the heaviest hit will be in Data Center type scenarios where you are using virtual machines. Your typical desktop user probably won't notice.

Can anyone with more machining experience than I tell me if these could have their bearing replaced?

I think the bearing is on it's way out, and would like to start looking into options to get it replaced. Unless of course it wouldn't be worth the cost and I should look into other plates.

Looks like a simple pressed bearing. It likely could be replaced but like you said since the bearing is the bulk of assembly it probably wouldn't be worth it.

Yup. Like I noted before, at work there's a potential 42% increase in COST of using AWS compute (assuming the projected 30% performance reduction).

Outside possibility I'm currently trying to help track production issues that are tied to patched AWS environment slowdowns...

Currently attempting to "hem" a pair of curtains with some of this stuff. I am having a hell of a time getting it to work. Should have just gotten out my sewing kit, or better yet, taken it to a shop, and paid a nice, old, Vietnamese woman like 15 bucks to do these ones, and the curtains for the bedroom.

Since posting that, I've managed to get it to work "ok". I have a feeling that once it starts to peel in a week or so, to the seamstress it goes.

Georgia has a huge number of them as well. Some make sense (ones for each State University, Veterans versions, etc). Some make no sense at all, like the ones in the "other" category for Universities outside Georgia:
