I just hope its in line with the current speed/capability of the Super-200's. The RS4 would be somewhat acceptable to me. It's not bad and it likes a lot of heat, and heating up a tire is easier than cooling it. Definitely wouldn't be happy with Dunlop/Falken/Toyo/Khumo. |

Well depends what you mean by best.
For those of us in colder/wetter parts of North America, the Rival S would be the worst option. I hope it's going to be a more polyvalent tire like the SUR4G. I'd rather spray when it's hot than have no traction when temperature drops around 41F. Especially since we will be limited to a single tire and switching to DW won't be an option on rainy days. |

That's why I said IMO - we don't have to deal with weather and a season. :p
But really, tire should be chosen for performance at the big show. All else doesn't really matter. Just like classing, assume the best conditions, not the worst. |

I hear you about the big show.
But if the cars are not fun locally because of the spec tires, numbers are going to drop. I wonder if locally clubs should make an allowance for SSC cars to run non spec tires since lot of club autox series groups are pax based. Would be a serious handicap not being able to run rain tires. |

If it was the flip side, tires were junk when dry or hot, there would be endless bitching at nats. In wet, we at least know it will be low grip anyway. |

It's frequently a flying elbows show, and spins/big slides would not be unheard-of, but I bet you'll be faster. IME, the quantity of rain that makes a lesser tire beneficial overlaps a lot with the quantity of rain that gets an official event delayed.

Not sure what's your definition of rain but up here on true rainy days the guys on Conti DW will outpace anyone on the top Autox tires.
And by true rainy days I mean non-stop rain all day with large puddles on track. Here is an example of one our wetter events. Don't mind the driving it was my first ever event [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qc1oGGNlAlI&t="]2009 VCMC NCT 1 Run 5 - YouTube[/ame] |

Sure at national level it doesn't matter but most clubs have their own autox series with trophies & prizes at the end of the season.
And they often use groups of classes e.g. Novice, Street, Touring, Race (Prepared & Modified). So if I am running in the Street group and I get a handicap every time we have a rainy event (which is about half our events) because unlike the other I can't switch tires. It's not going to be fun running SSC. So I am proposing an allowance to my clubs that we can run tires in spec size that have a treadwear of 280 or more. |

The rules are for the National level events. Local regions can make their own rules. You'll have to make your case to them.

Exactly, I'd like to be able to track the car without having to worry I'll damage my engine, and still be able to AutoX in street. Obviously it add 0 performance in autoX, it only add weight. Also, a mod that help prevent your engine from being damaged, I think is the exact definition of a reliability mod... |

Look like the Konig Dekagram might not be an option after all.
The specs section has been updated and list a wheel weight of 16.66lbs for the 17x8 5x100 ET40 https://konigwheels.com/wheels/flow-...eels/dekagram/ |
