My right foot is glued on the accelerator, hands on the wheel, eyes on the road and ... WASP on the radio.
What is clutch for?Anybody knows this song? [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P25hBk8LmUM"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P25hBk8LmUM[/ame] Last edited by mrg666; 09-01-2017 at 04:26 PM. |

I would only use left-foot brake (something like heel-and-toe) when entering a sharp turn and I want to exit accelerating, right-foot brake for normal driving.

Honestly I had 2 automatic e36's which were great. Both died and ended up with my dad's mazda 3 which was stick and told myself that the next fun car would be manual. Modern autos are great, maybe I'll get some paddles on the next one.

My AT is supercharged (JRSC). There are absolutely no problems with the CARB tune for me. Actually, it is so awesome I can't put into words. No trolling, I'm dead serious!

It's extremely annoying but at low(ish) speed in say 3rd you can repeatedly tap the accelerator on and off in time with the music and given a small amount of drive train slack and the instant direct transmission of a manual cause all your passengers to nod their heads in time with the music, involuntarily. It's extremely annoying for them because it's impossible for them to not nod their heads. You can do similar with the brakes too when you need to slow back down. Best done to thrash metal or Bohemian rhapsody.

I added an ATF cooler and it helped -a lot- but on really hot days (like now, summer), it still has all kinds of stupid. A few months back, I had it overheat at the drag strip and slip, it would do it pass after pass in 3rd gear at 6k. Every so often I'll experience that slippage on the street if I've been pushing it a bit. I'll admit that at the track, for HPDEs, I've had no issues with the trans - so that is a plus. It just really doesn't like 1/2/3/4 hard acceleration from a stop when heat soaked. The Harrop makes quite a bit more torque down low than a JRSC (on my pulley it makes 12+ psi at just about any RPM), putting more heat into the trans, sooner, so by the time I get to high rpm, it's really unhappy. Might be part of why your trans doesn't mind the JRSC. Also, by my calculations (ricer math) based on my baseline when I was stock (135whp) and my results post blower (255whp), that's almost a 100% increase in torque over stock that the transmission is dealing with. That is correct, JRSC does have less torque at lower rpms although it is a different story as it gets near the redline. I wanted to have it that way to save gas and reduce engine wear. Unless I rebuild the engine from ground up, I am not boosting any further. You haven't said so but if you are using a high boost pulley and/or E85, I would recommend against using those until you properly rebuild and cool your engine. It is not really worth killing this beautiful car for extra power. |
