Could be some sort of grounding issue, but if that was the case it would be constantly on.

Although it's possible it's coming from one of the speakers. Should be pretty easy to tell by putting your ear up against the speaker.

Yeah I might just have to do that :/

I made a thread in the BRZ section anyway just in case someone else has noticed it.

edit:

I was actually thinking when I wrote that post.. The hum reminds me of speaker feedback. You know how when speakers aren't grounded properly sometimes they have some feedback that's like a hum? Wondering if that could be it. Maybe a wire is loose from the factory?

If it's the speaker, just adjust the sound settings to just the right rear speaker, turn off the car, turn it back on, and see if it happens. If it still does, move the sound to the front left and repeat. If the sound still happens (or goes away), take it to the dealership. lol

Lol that's a good idea. I'll try that tomorrow after work.

Another thing, I'm looking through the driver manual for the 2017 right now and came across this:

Quote:
After the engine starts
In order to secure a rich exhaust sound when starting the vehicle and envi- ronmental performance, air intake and exhaust sounds become loud and vibrations may increase for a little while after the engine starts. This is not a malfunction.
A vibration could cause a hum, right?

A vibration can cause a humming sound, but I'm thinking that bit you referenced is talking more about cold engine starts.

That is describing the 30 second or so thing where it does it's high rev overlap idle, before dropping down to a normal idle.

My OEM battery has a bunch of corrosion on the positive terminal that will need to be cleaned up before I install my OEM Audio + system.

Is it wrong that I'm debating just ordering an Optima red top versus cleaning it?

Don't think I heard the noise at all today. Definitely not while idling and getting it started.

I wish but I doubt it is, haha.

Will need to check again later after work. Might need to schedule time at the dealer anyway just to be on the safe side.
