You get one of the Aoshima kits? They are a very good kit.
Looking forward to this when you do it. I did a LOT of modelling in my youth but nothing to the level you do. I'm starting to get back into it a little and this would help drive me to it.

I keep meaning to do just a general modeling thread but then get building and forget to take pictures. Maybe once I start the next one (it is special anyways) I will do a whole build thread for aircraft. Most of that can be applied to armour or cars anyways.
My current project is a paid commission on a M88A1 recovery vehicle for a guy at head office in the US that operated one in Desert Storm. The kit has been a royal pain in the ass to assemble and I am a bit behind where I should be on it but hope to be done in a couple of weeks.

Would be nice to inspire some of the younger guys to try the hobby since it would seem to be very suitable for many of the people here. It is sort of a dying art form though.

Hypothetically, suppose one had a paper model similar to this, but of a sportscar. I assume that person would need glue that was immediately tacky, but not necessarily instant, to allow for precise adjustments before it sets. What glue would be best for such a project?

Sort of out of my realm but when I do use paper on my kits (seatbelts, tarps, etc) I use a good quality glue stick. Not instant but will hold well enough while I adjust and once fully dry things stay put. Stay away from white glue or anything too liquid or else you end up with something that looks like it crashed because of all the waves that will result.

A side note to this. If you want to try something new, it is very easy to take these "paper" models and convert them to metal. Cut the top and bottoms off of beverage cans (beer or soda, your choice) flatten it out and use that. You'll have to apply some heat to the aluminum to get it flat, or you can buy flat sheets of it from a hobby store.

Then, you use contact cement or a good metal clue to hold the parts together.

I did a few simple airplane models like this a few years back. It can be tedious but it works.

Well I guess it beats the hell out of San Francisco's Three Queens Day.

Here's the forum's favorite sports car in paper for you if you want it.

Chassis is here.
Body is here.

I couldn't find the thread but there were a few that built these back in 2012.

I'm looking at a similar one. A friend of mine is sending me this. I'm going to take my time and try to do a good job of it, so right now I'm in the information and tool gathering stage. Lots of tiny clamps.
