here is my biggest gripe that hasn't been mentioned yet: the fender lip.
![]() i would like to see that part of the fender reduced in size. i don't want a large, flat, vertical section surrounding the wheel opening.

Kinda wonder if there will be a G Sports take on this concept.
Overall it looks beautiful... except for the rear. Kinda prefered the first concepts taillights. This version... I don't know why, but it looks weird. Ah well, at least there's still time for this car to change anyway. Hopefully for the better. |

It's weird, comparing this to the MKI the MKII seems more like an initial concept, and the MKI more production-ready. It's just so much more in your face and aggressive. Glad it didn't go in the G sport direction though, really wasn't fond of that one cus' it was way too bland.
Think people are freaking out about some things for no reason. Spoiler is cheesy, but you can sure there'd be versions without it. Or, you can just take it off. Not a big deal. It's production-close concept, which typically means the body dimensions are and general design is locked in... but stuff like the ground effects will change. Guarantee the lower bumper, door sill and bottom half of the rear bumper will be more tame than this. I'm even doubting there'd be a rear diffuser at all. Definitely thinking no carbon fiber, it's just not practical. I'm hoping the production version will have 17" standard wheels, but we'll see. And seems like nobody asked, but are there going to be no interior pics for this show? |

The complainers are nuts -- that car is perfect. Even the fairly understated rear deck lid spoiler is perfect for the car.
The LED lights and other little fancy bits all work just fine on this thing, but they'll probably be options anyway that aren't part of the base model. They should offer a stripped down version for the track only guys and a slightly flashier one for those of us who want this to be a DD. I want my Batman spoilers! ![]() But... they NEED to give this thing some balls. For 22K you can get a Mustang that will blow its doors off and run circles around it and for 29K a Z that will blow its doors off, run circles around it, AND look just as good. If this thing is going to be in the 25+ range, it can't just be set up for going sideways; it's gotta haul in a straight line too. |

Just a question...
Some here seems to want 17 inch wheels on it. I think it'll look a bit undersize as the wheel arches are pretty big. I think 18 is just right. I understand some here obviously thinking... drift. But i dont think stock tyres off the factory not to mention stock alloy wheels are meant for heavy drifting. On my MR2 GT, the 17x7 and 17x8 setup is perfect.... well its nicely fit. But on this FT-86... which the wheel arches and wheel slots are much bigger and not to mention closer to 3/4 circle rather than 1/2 circle.... 17 might be a bit smallish.... OFF the factory anyways. Again I expect tuners will opt for after market wheels anyways. |

If this current design was released, I could see this car rocking a Scion badge only b/c of the wrong stuff! As Mike pointed out, why did they square off the fenders!?!

Concept cars are almost always more aggressive than production, not the other way around. Can't think of a case where the reverse was true. The production version won't have the same ground effects.

i still don't understand some of you guys that are complaining about how they ruined the look with the MK II. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but it really didn't change that much. They but some aero bits on it and some LED's and you guys act like they completely restyled the car. Other than the 3 inches in length it increased, it really is almost identical

I think most of the complaints are on the Vents (FR fender) and Rear Lamps....

Hmmm ...
Not feeling the FT-86II. I am just not getting the rear end at all. The rear end in the original concept was waaaay better. Plus, the BMW ///M style side brake vent was uncalled for. Toyota should design their own. Btw, are there any pic/news on the interior of this FT-86II concept?

But the R35 comes with 20 inch wheels doesnt it?
20 inch wheels especially, 20 x 10 wheels... have you checked the prices on the tyres?.... in my area, 20 x 10 for GTRs... exotics etc... tyres CAN cost up to $900 AUD each.... 19 x 10, 19 x 9 are more easily available and not exotic car tyre prices too. Of course this is just from my experience and from talking to people around me, my group of friends and work mates are heavily into after market wheels... JDM types especially. |
